Bounder: Engines in Chevy chassis 96-99

I am looking at several bounders in the 96-99 year range. They are all Chevy chassis units, with the 454/7.4L engines.

I want to buy one with the vortec multi point fuel injection. The research I have done leads me to belive that the vortec was phased in some time in 1996. Knowing that the year the coach was built has little to do with the year of the chassis, I could find some early 97 year model bounders with the TBI injection, and some late year model 96 year models with the vortec, but 98 and 99 should all be vortec equipped?

You don't need our help. You have already done your own homework.You are right on. 96 to 99 had the Vortec engine. Since some manufacturers buy too many frames, you could find a leftover with a split year chassis. As long as you look at the motorhome and make sure it has the aircleaner in the right wheelwell, you will be OK.

I settled on a 98 34J. A friend has on just like it and is very happy with it until recent troubles. Look for thoes in a coming thread about O2 sensors.
