Entry Door Adjustment
My entry door is getting a bit out of adjustment. In the closed position, the top of the door on the hinge side protrudes 1/8-1/4 inch from the body side. The bottom is flush with the body side. To get the door to close and latch properly, we're having to close the door with a little more force than we used to. I'd like to remedy that.
I've searched the site and found a few references to re-hanging the door, but no info on how to do it.
Has anyone tried to adjust the door?
Thanks,
Steve

Are you level? I find my door to be out of whack if my level is a little off.

DW says I'm a bit off sometimes, but yes, the coach is level. The issue has been with us for the last two or so months at a variety of parks and on the road without jacks deployed, but with the air bags inflated.
BTW, should have mentioned it is a front (Co-Pilot position) door.

I'm guessing you have PG elec jacks. Sometimes they need to be re-zero leveled ( sounds good doesn't it ). However if you're using an external bubble to be sure, then I'll go back to my room.

Hey Steve. I came out of my room and did a forum search for " entry door adjustment " and found 38 threads. You're answer may be there.

When I did my search, I used "adjust door" and only searched the Fleetwood section. I used your search criteria in the Fleetwood section and only got a hit on our current conversation. Searched site-wide and saw the hits you did.
It'll take me a while to go through them all. Hopefully a solution is there.
Thanks again,
Steve

Cliff,
Well, it goes like this...
It seems that while a door is a door, and a door has hinges and latches and locks (Oh, my!), the solutions offered trend towards being brand specific. Some brands have adjustable "stuff", some don't.
Many of the hits concern the lock assemblies, and while there might be something to look at there, I really think my problem is with the door being out of plumb (or square, or level). That 1/8-1/4 inch protrusion at the top is the key.
Oh, well.
Of all the "solutions" I found, here is my favorite:
"I have "adjusted" mine by placing a 2x4 along the upper front edge of the door and tapping it with a hammer. That pushed the hinge enough to restore the gaps.
Your door problem may be different."
I don't think I'm ready for that solution...yet!
Steve

Interesting. Normally I would suggest that issues like these be posted on a general forum.Maybe a call to F W ( 800-322-8216 ) might help or someone else will pop up here. I'm staying subscribed in hopes of learning something.

Cliff,
Calling Fleetwood was my first thought. My second was to search this forum.
Interestingly, one of the threads I originally found was that Fleetwood had nothing, knew nothing, so would share nothing about entry doors. "Take it to your Authorized Fleetwood Dealer" I believe was the response several received from Fleetwood. Granted, those posts were a few years old. Maybe times have changed with new ownership.
But, I'm going to wait a bit before calling Fleetwood.
I have no doubt someone has run up against this issue and has found a solution. I can only hope it doesn't involve a 2x4!
If you would, help me keep this thread "alive" 'till someone does?
Steve

One more idea. I once spoke to Marie Berry of Attwood They made the door. Her email address is M.Berry@atwoodmobile.com .
Maybe she can help.
