I just bought my third shade for the door and I can see it won't last long. They seem to lose their spring and I'm constantly taking it off and tightening them. Each time I spend more money ( this one is a levelor ) ,but they're all the same junk. Does anybody use something else as a privacy/sunshade?

What about using a mini blind instead? Lowe's or Home Depot should have one that might fit. Only thing is you may want to then mount the clips at the bottom of the window to secure the blinds when down.

Thought about that but they're not room darkening and heat blocking enough. Thanks anyway.

Hey Cliff,

I made a set of storage shades for every window with silver bubble wrap sheet material that I purchased at Lowes. I attached them to the window frames with velcro strips. When ready to go, I simply take them all off but the door window stays on for privacy and absolute darkness.

I went to Lowes and found what I was looking for. I just have to get to my MH and do some measuring. It's a Levolor cordless blind. You push a button on the bottom and pull down and then you push that same button and it rises. No more springs. I could not find it on line to show but here is another brand so you can see what I'm saying Cordless Blinds - Cellular Shade 1/2" Single Cell Light Filtering.

I'll post a photo when I get it installed.

Those cordless blinds look interesting. Might have to look into them if my Day/Night pleated shade repairs don't last.

I'm surprised you are having this trouble with so many shades. Could there possibly be a problem with your shade holder? May be the slot that holds the key side has widened allowing the tension key to unwind when your traveling.

My door shade has functioned normally since day one.

I have been fighting the same battle and losing, so I will look into the cordless blind solution. Thank you for sharing.

Haven't had this problem yet but look forward to spending lots of money
on it in the future.
Makes me want to kiss the shade after I pull it down!

At least that will spare Mrs. General from your kisses

Hey Cliff,

Plenty of kisses left for the Generaless but need a lip retread!
Wonder if lips last as long as tires?
My lips and mind are cracked?

........Surprised you have had so much trouble. They must have changed production since our m/home. We have had no problems at all, we just make sure when we lift it up to not turn loose and let it fly up, you then have to reset. Good luck and travel safe.
