Eternabond and TPO

I went and looked at my roof since I have not been up there ever, and the Dicor has seen better days, and has more cracks in it than a dry lake bed. I have a 50' roll of 4" Eternabond Tape, thought I may as well use it. Looking at the TPO, it does not look very thick at all, it looks thin. I watched a bunch of videos where folks just cleaned the area, cut a piece of tape, and rolled it down. I did not see anyone score the TPO with sand paper.
I was reading the Eternabond directions, and it tells you to use sand paper and score the TPO prior to applying the Eternabond tape. I am afraid scoring will go right through the TPO. Those that used Etrnabond with a TPO roof, did you score it, or did you just clean it and apply the tape and use the roller? I plan on removing the old Dicor, I should take a picture of it, and I am surprised it does not leak.

I had a 03 Excursion with TPO roof. I cleaned the roof throughly with simple green, let dry and wiped the area to be bonded with denatured alcohol. Lightly wiping the area then drying immediately with clean terry cloth rags. I'm talking about the front cap seam. Ran painters tape as a guide then applied the Eternabond. I traded the coach after two years and the bonding was still perfect. Also taped off the edges of the Eternabond and ran a caulk seam front and back of the tape to seal off the glue area and keep it looking clean. Used Dicor self leveling.

i'll say one thing, don't expect it to last much longer then 5 years, and they won't warranty it , even though they claim 15 year warranty. just ask me how I know.

I bought an 06 Excursion with roof damage. Total replacement of the TPO membrane was highly recommended. However, after making the necessary repairs to the underlying luan I removed a 6 ft x 20 ft section of TPO membrane and replaced with a new piece cut to exact dimension removed. (Not overlapped). The new section was glued down. At that point I used the exact cleaning process used by Clayobx. Cleaned with Simple Green, alcohol, then dried. I applied Eternabond tape directly over the seam using a roller. I then ran a bead of Dicor self leveling sealer along both sides of the Eternabond tape. It will be 5 years this spring since I made the repairs and no signs of lifting, cracking or LEAKING!! I am a happy camper, a huge fan of Eternabond , and love our Excursion!

Consider a DIY project. Lots of videos.EPDM Coatings - Liquid EPDM Rubber Roof Coatings For Roof Leaks
It is self leveling and UV resistant. Just had it done to my roof. Shinny white and water tight. Better than the original roof. Glad I did it.
Semi annual roof inspections, roof cleaning and treatments, purchasing Dicor calking tubes and tape, labor for removing and resealing roof and vents with Dicor adds up yearly.

I asked the Company about using this on a TPO roof. They said it may work, but they do not guarantee it on TPO as the product is for EPDM Ribber, not TPO Vinyl.
