I have a 2005 Bounder, when I add gas to the tank, the nozzle will shut off almost imediately. It will not allow me to even get to the first "locking notch" on the nozzle handle. The filler pipe drops down about 12" and takes an radical bend, about 40 degrees, the vent is a few inches above the bend. I'm sure that is why it shuts off, gas backs up and shuts it down. It takes me 15-20 minutes to add 45 gallons. That's just standing there holding the nozzle allowing a slow trickle of fuel.

Does anyone else have this problem? I sent a e-mail to FW and they said to check with a local dealer if I think it's a warranty item. I've had it only 3 months.

tincup, I've also got an '05 Bounder with the same problem. I've learned that if you can pick a fueling location with the nose down a little and then try different positions of the nozzle, I can fuel somewhat normally. I've spoken with Fleetwood about it and evidently there are hundreds of complaints. No word on whether they are going to come up with a fix.

I found my problem and it may help others. In my case, the problem was with the vent hose/pipe and not the filler pipe. The vent hose came off of the pipe at the filler end, made a 3 inch dip, then came up to connect to the pipe going to the tank. When I removed the hose clamp at the filler pipe end, fuel came out. The gas in the vent pipe prevented it from doing its job.

I removed the filler pipe assembly, two screws, and two hose clamps. As you are looking at the vent pipe, I came up 2 inches from the bend and cut it off. I reinstalled the assembly and connected the vent pipe going to the tank to the vent pipe on the filler assembly with new hose and made it a gradual slope which took out the 3 inch dip.

Problem solved. I am now able to use the full force of the gas pump nozzle to fill the tank.

Hope this helps others.
