Finally,,,, Resealed the roof,,

Finally resealed the roof took extra care to do three coats instead of two,,, and what happens,,, two day later a wind storm blows large limbs on the roof and damages the rubber (Tears the membrane) and breaks out the bathroom sky light and vent cover.

Now I have to wait for the insurance adjuster to view the coach and then find a reputable RV shop to do the repairs.

Insurance company is going to pay to replace the roof, sky light, powered roof vent, and the refrigerator roof vent.

They did deduct for the age of the roof, original roof, and the deductible.

Now I will see if I can find a good RV repair shop that can replace the roof for the $$$ they estimated.

Dang, 2 days too soon. Can you go into details on name of insurance company, coverage you have and the estimate$$$. The weather calls for gusty winds this week and i might want to park close to some trees.

The carrier is CSAA insurance thru AAA auto.

The adjuster sent an estimate for replacement of the roof of 4900.00 less our deductible and what they call "betterment" which is a deduction for the age of the roof.

Bottom line is they are willing to send us a check for 3900.00 to replace the entire roof, skylight, roof vent, and refrigerator vent.

I called an RV shop and they gave me a rough estimate of 9K to replace the roof. I am gong to take it to them Saturday and get a firm estimate and forward it to my claims adjuster.]

Mean time I better winterize it cuz it may be a while before I can use it again.

That's a serious discrepancy in the prices, I hope it works out well for you.

By any chance do you know what experience your adjuster has writing estimates for RVs?

I used them and was absolutely thrilled with their service. I went to the Green Cove location, and it was before they started to branch out, but it's a great product and they did a fantastic job, for about what your insurance is paying you.

Insurance is paying 4900 of the 5900 cost to replace the roof.

So for about $1000.00 I'm getting a new rubber roof.

Does it have the lifetime warranty like this one?

I can't find the quote they gave me but I think it was around $4,500.00 for our 35 ft coach.

If your interested in coming to OKC, OK. I would check into Kjelshus Rv Repair (405)789-4279. Gary is the owner, I had mine PDI'ed when I first bought it 4 months ago and found them to be real courteous and friendly. Seemed knowledgable and helpful. The resealed my roof at my request. The only thing is you must call multiple times and speak to someone as they were not to good about returning messages left on the phone. I found the best time to call was around lunch time or later. They allow you to leave the RV in front with keys left in agreed upon area. They have a fenced in area for parking.

You really don't want a rubber roof when, for probably the same $$$$, you can get a life-time guaranteed roof of Flex Armor (the one mentioned by Jon above). I had mine done by their Texas licensee and it is fantastic--and cost far less than my insurance estimate. It cost about $180/ft. or $7200 for our 40" coach. I'd negotiate with a licensee, tell them what your insurance is paying, and I suspect they would meet you part way at least.

Best part, besides the lifetime guarantee, is that I'll NEVER have to seal anything up there again. Use Jon's link and look closely. There is another outfit that also offers a life-time guarantee. That company is (I think) RV Roof Armor, and they too have a good reputation. I prefer Flex Armor because it is sprayed on and 3/16" thick; the other is rolled on and thinner but, rather conveniently, they will come to your park and apply it. But I can't believe a roll-on would fill every nook & cranny the way a spray-on would.

I'd go with either one before a rubber roof.
