Fleetwood Discovery slide problems

Front lock on large slide will not completely retract back into the slide. It stops just short as if loses power. Therefore can't extend the slide. Any suggestions?

Welcome to IRV2. Here is a Power Gear slideout manual which may be what you have.
http://support.powergearus.com/techdocs/82-S0140-00.pdf
What year / model is your MH and what slideout system do you have? I'm not sure what you mean by " lock ". If it is a Power Gear , their techs are available via email and respond quickly. Give them all the info possible if you email them. Their address is info@powergearus.com .
Good luck and keep us posted.
Cliff

J Self, run the slide back in all the way, allowing it to complete the cycle into the lock process. Use a flashlight and look carefully back in the opening and see if anything such as plywood pieces, screws or even rubber weatherseal that would block the lock from retracting into the pocket. Pay close attention in the pocket where the radiused part of the lock "rides". I've had to "clean" a couple of those out experiencing the same problem..

What lock are you both referring to ?

The only lock that I know of would be the brake on the slideout motor.

Cliff, on these newer slide outs (i've only seen them on the full wall slide models) Fleetwood is using a powered "shoe" lock at the top corners of the slide. There is a rectangular pocket within the slide that contains them. They're a pivoting C shaped shoe. During the "out" cycle process the locks are rotated/retracted flush back into the slide before the slide(s) begin to move, each has their own motor.

Thanks for the explanation. I have enough to worry about with just one slideout motor. That's why I asked the op what system they had.

Hehe.. I understand. They're interesting in design. They must complete their cycle for the interlock before the slide will move outward. Since that large rectangular hole for the lock is completely exposed when the slide it extended, they use a thin rubber sheet with a slit cut in it that the lock can rotate through but help prevent insects and debris from getting into the pockets. Unfortunately, if the rubber comes loose, rips, shreds or tree debris gets in the pocket the lock cannot rotate far enough in thus the interlock is never released - no slide movement.
