I friend of mine owns a 2003 Fleetwood Expedition has anyone worked on, service, or replaced the house water pump?? Is it possible or does he need to take it to a mechanic. He's telling me he can't get at it to remove it to replace.

I am not one hundred percent sure on the Fleetwood but most other units HR, Monaco, etc have PEX waterpipes connected with compressed brass rings, usually 1/2 inch pipe. Getting to the pump is only half the battle as you will need the crimping too, some extra pex pipe and crimp rings. There are many places to get the tool and fitting and pipe and everything is really cheap except the crimp tool. I have used pex to plumb my entire house, geothermal waterlines running through the cement slab so I had everything I needed. It might be cheaper to just have the dealer do it unless your a true do it yourselfer.

Is it behind the panel in the water bay? That's typically where it is on Fleetwoods and he may have to remove the metal panel to access it. Usually a pain but not technically challenging. My Fleetwood/American coach is designed differently than the other Fleetwood diesels, so I'm not sure about an Expedition.

Is your friend a handyman or just an average homeowner guy?? His skills and self-confidence in tackling the job may be the deciding factor.

On all pumps I've seen there is a nut that just unscrews from the pump.(Both sides). This nut is a fitting that is crimp sleeved onto the pex pipe alright. There are usually three screws that hold pump to its base and plug in wires. Not hard to do at all except getting at the location with two hands is sometimes a challenge.
