Fabric stays taught no matter how far out, regardless if its a foot or more. If the awning is put out to far I was told it starts pulling on the fabric creating a strain that will eventually lead to stretching the fabric.

I have been told by three different RV techs this during walk through of new coaches, all with power awnings.

Power awning picture from Dometic web site. Why is everyone picking on me? Can't insert icons from phone, so picture a smiley face with tongue sticking out!

I am heading to my storage and will get a picture of mine extended all the way out past how I was told.

Because we are women and it's part of our job description. Here's a pic of our awning, FULLY extended. Note that there is no large arm extended down to the side of the RV. (And the "frilly part" is hanging down. )

We wouldn't pick on you if we didn't love you....just ask Cliff.

I probably don't know what I'm talking about anyway - we've got a manual awning so what goes for a powered one may be different.

I always like to argue, whether I know what I'm talking about or not.

Just extended mine all the way out and while the frilly stuff is sorta partially hanging down, it's not how I was taught. It's only a differece of a quarter turn on the tube, so not a big deal either way.

So in conclusion, Sarah is right, I am right (because it's mine), I've been picked on, and had the owners manual thrown in my face.

Thank goodness had lunch at a fine Italian restaurant.....CiCi's Pizza.

I'm busy stalking the UPS guy today. My new dinette table for the Bounder is "out for delivery."

Of course, we are the last house on his route, so it will be dark-thirty before he ambles up the street.

Oh, and my replacement awning shade will be here tomorrow. Yay!
