My Providence’s driver side rear view mirror is mounted on the sidewall, but the passenger side mirror is mounted on the front cowling. This mirror always bounces while going down the road. I looked at the mirror mounting base and discovered that it was mounted directly to the fiberglass cowling without any type of bracket or backing plate to provide a sturdy support. I made two metal brackets and mounted them to the backside of the cowling. My first choice was to make a large metal plate to cover the entire surface of the mirror mounting base, but the cowling is curved in this area, so I had to settle for two reinforcing brackets. This is something the manufacturer should have done in the first place. The brackets have significantly helped to reduce the amount of mirror bouncing. Fairly easy mod.

Great mod with that reinforcement. Even back then, FW was cutting corners.

I just completed the install of Boogey Light Awning Lights to our 2014 Southwind.
After a couple of disappointing experiences with the cheap off-shore lights I decided to go with Boogey Lights and found a great deal at the Tampa RV Super Show.
The overall quality is far superior to the off-shores, a solid connection between the light strip and the wire to the the control box and detailed instructions made for a straight forward and simple install.
Once completed, the end result in terms of performance is excellent.
On to the next project.

Wow, that is amazing Lori! I am thinking of getting LED's myself. Are you still happy with them?

Yes we are, at least the low beams. For some reason, the high beams are WAY less bright than the low beams. I think our installer put LED's in only the low beam sockets. Either that or the high beams aren't as intense as the low beams. But then, we rarely ever used the high beams anyway. Now we have no need to use them & driving at night is much safer.

Installing a Wireless Weather Station

For two years there has been a wall light in the coach that we have never been turned on.

It sits between the dinette, which has its own light, and the Euro chair area which has two lights, one above each of the Euro chairs.

Given its awkward position, it is no surprise that it has never been used.

We thought about what might work better in that location and decided to go with a La Crosse 308-1414W Wireless Color Forecast Station.

The first concern was that in order to conserve the units internal AAA battery power, it would need to be ‘touched’ every time we wanted to see the screen – unless we used an A/C adapter.

However, using an A/C adapter meant a wire dangling down and running to the outlet under the overhead cabinet. Not very elegant.

Wait a minute! If we put the Weather Station where the wall sconce would be removed, we have the sconce’s 12 volt source at that location! Great... Except the Weather Station needs 5 volts and 12 volts might burn out the unit.

The answer came in the form of a tiny converter to step the 12 volts down to a regulated 5 volts.

This unit has the correct adapter plug size and will fit inside the wall behind the Weather Station.

We mounted the outside wireless sensor in the basement propane bay.

For us, this is a much more practical use of that space.

Very nice. Where did you get the tiny converter to step the 12 volts down to a regulated 5 volts??

The converter I used was a BC70417 by Geree from Amazon.

We prefer warmer 'natural' LEDs in the living spaces and use the brighter 'cool' LEDs for task lighting like above the stove, reading, bath room, storage compartments and outside.

Cabinet vs recliner

We removed the recliner in our 2015 flair 26d as it seemed to crowd the space and was not very usable. Here is a pic of the cabinet we built with storage, and two storage ottomans that slide in underneath.

Nice use of that space. I agree, the recliner (we have one there as well), takes up too much room there. When reclining, I swear I'm gonna topple over into the step well.

Sofa and Dinette replacement

Since my dinette was starting to flake and peel, I decided to go ahead and replace the dinette and the sofa. The sofa was not comfortable so this gave me a great excuse to remove them. This is still a work in progress but I thought I would go ahead show you what I have so far. You will notice I did have to shorten the valence a little so the sofa could fit closer to the wall, not that it was really needed. I looked at all kinds of sofa manufacturers but decided to go with the Thomas Payne Seismic. I had no way of removing the old stuff so I just had the local dealer pull out the old and put in the new (other than the valence).
