Ive been looking for a propane hose to connect our 2012 Fleetwood Discovery 36J propane tank outlet to a disposable BBQ propane bottle fitting on our Coleman RoadTrip XLE BBQ - no luck.

The outlet on the coach appears to be similar to a standard air compressor coupling.

Does anyone have a source for a 10-12 foot hose with these kinds of fittings?

Hi All,

Camping World or Fleetwood should be able to get you the correct parts.

Camping World is where we got ours at. Think it was under $30.

Pargosago, walley world has the hose for the disposable tank, then go to a LP Gas Bus, and they will sell you the connector. It come in a pack with the male and female. The male end will screw on to the new hose. Just a note: yes it does look like a air fitting but it is not! The LP shop can fix you right up.

Also like said in above post CW has the hose and "may" have the connectors. Hope this helps you out.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the information! I called CW a few weeks ago, and the sales rep I spoke to told me that they don't carry what I need and that it would "...have to be made". No help at all.

I'll check Wally World next time we're near one. We live in a very small town in southwest CO. The nearest WW is a 100 mile round trip, and the nearest CW is about 450 miles round trip.

That does not look like a factory part to me.. I find that kind of hook up a bit scary.

I mean.. If you forget to close the valve before disconnecting, will the outlet self-seal?

Now to the subject... Is this a high pressure connection (that is if you follow the pipe back does it connect BEFORE the regulator?) if not then you can't do what you want to do. If it does connect then you need to know the size of the connector.. It should be stamped, likely on one of the flats on the "Nut" end (Where it screws onto the pipe) but there is no guarantee, Will be (usually) one or two letters.

You can also remove the fitting and take it to a dealer if you have to.. Provided the valve remains closed.

My recommendation for connecting a grill or other "Throw away" bottle type appliance to the motor home tanks is always the Extend-a-Stay from marshall brass or it's equivlant (I think Mr, Heater sells an equivlent, tha'ts the one Camping World carries) this has safety features lacking on that fitting you photographed.

It's factory direct from Fleetwood. It was for the grill that was used on the open kitchen designs. You can not insert or remove the fittings without moving the lever to cut off the gas.

It gas outlet is also regulated by the main tank regulator. I think 11 psi (not sure of the measurement) but I had mine checked by the gas company when I was getting a longer hose.

What we did was throw away the Motorhome grill (junk) and buy a Weber 200 from Lowe's. Had the local gas company extend my junk grill hose to about 20', remove the regulator from the Weber and test the system. Makes a better cooking system as I can move the grill away from the MH and out it where I need it. All done for less than $30.

Yup - it's stock factory equipment. There was no grill that came with the coach. We have the Coleman Roadtrip LXE that requires the high pressure line, since it has a regulator on it. I'm going to check with the local propane delivery service and ask if they can convert the system so it's 1) safe and 2) usable.

It's a little frustrating that Fleetwood puts that outlet on the coach, creating the expectation that new owners will be able to easily use it - and then they bump into this issue.

Again, thanks for all the suggestions!

We have a Fleetwood Triumph 5th wheel trailerwith quad slides and it came with the same fitting. However, my trailer came with whats called an RVQ and hose that fits the connector. I was not happy with the Q provided so I went on line and found a stainless grill and mount that attaches to the existing channel and plugged her right in. I love the new grill and its a beautiful cooking machine. It's a standard LP fitting as witnesssed by the hnew grill plugging right in with no additional work. It is low pressure and the new grill has no regulator just an ignitor and flame height valve. -Paul R. haller-

Ok, thanks. So long as there is a safety interlock it's not so bad.

Still,, I rather like the Extend-a-stay design, For one thing it allows me to supply gas to the Motor home (Ahead of the regulator) from an "emergency bottle" if I run out.
