I have a 2007 400hp cat engine with a recent problem:
I am intermittently losing accelator pedal. Today took it out for a short run and after filling the propane it wouldnt move. The "check engine" light is coming on and had very little acceleration and engine blew out very black smoke. After short amt of time it cleared up and the light went out. Happened again 10 min down the road after we pulled to side.
My thoughts are it could be injectors that are leaking at idle. It has been sitting for 3 months and only idled.
Any ideas and suggestions.
tks
bob

The only way to know is to pull the codes from it. You will probably get better answers by posting in the Cat Forum.

I've hurd it's better not to crank it unless you drive it and it get up to running temp. Did you try the so called blowing the soot out of it (get on down the road). I would assume the fuel filters have been change currently.
