Still, it's an attractive alternative for Class C buyers and ought to be popular if fuel prices climb again. Fleetwood didn't really have anything like this in their line up before.
As for "crossover RV", well, ya gotta cut some slack for marketing hype.

I agree, what makes Fleetwood think this is such a big deal. Safari's Trek came out with this in the 90's. I think they still offer it. The body style is still not one bit aerodynamic. This is what they should be designing.

Just another player in the 'Ho Hum' low end MH market, I don't see anything innovative about it at all. And if they put a Workhorse chassis under it they're going to be doomed to failure due to the lousy reputation regarding the brake fiasco.
Anyone know what chassis it'll ride on?

It's on a Ford chassis, GVWR of 16,000-18,000 lbs depending on model (length) chosen.
Details are on the Fleetwood website at
http://www.fleetwoodrv.com/encounter/

I don't get the crossover catch - someone has already mentioned the Trek and Gulf Stream has the Montaj...

It's just the usual advertising hype, no doubt trying to capitalize on the "crossover" terminology that's the latest buzzword in SUVs. Means even less here than it does for SUVs.
Here is what Fleetwood says:
Quote:
Encounter has it all. The sleeping capacity and family-friendly design of a Class C motor home; along with the roominess and storage capacity of a Class A motor home. And you thought the auto industry cornered the Crossover market. Think again.
