Fleetwood Sales News

Fleetwood's RV division sold. Deal with AIP closed.

on July 17, 2009 5:19 PM | Comments (0)

It's official. Fleetwood Enterprises has sold its RV division to American Industrial Partners for $33.2 million (that's the almost final tally that includes the company's assumption of liabilities), according to a statement from the company.
As a result, Fleetwood laid off about 700 employees in its RV division. AIP, a New York equity firm, expects to hire 650 employees in the next several weeks.
The Riverside plant -- which wasn't included in the overall sale to the firm -- will be operated by American Industrial Partners temporarily.
The statement from the company doesn't say where AIP will base its headquarters, but most of the assets and plants purchased are located in Decatur, Ind.

American Industrial Partners itself is based in NY City, but the Fleetwood RV manufacturing company will almost surely be managed from Decatur, IN. AIP owns 6 separate companies now and each is operated as an independent business.

Its really shameful, fleetwood rv sold 22000 units per year and goes bankrupt. Its just like G.M. the two largest manufacturing companies in the world building two different products, and control 75% of the sales in their line, and they both file for bankruptcy.am i the only one that sees a problem here?.

Poor management and poor choices and not re-investing in thier own future but just sending profits to senior execs for a job well done (right...)
