Yes, your other warranties remain in effect.

When AIP bought the Fleetwood motorhome business in mid-2009, they assumed responsibility for any one year new coach warranty that was still in effect at that time. Not the 3 year structural warranty, though. Your warranty expired about the time they took over and would be expired now in any case.

Time to get out the drill and screw driver!

As I recall, they came out of bankruptcy last fall. I'm sure Cliff is right about the warranty as he has spoken with FW.

All your other warranty's are still good.

When was Bankruptcy ? And since my providence was originally titled on 07/18/2008 I guess either way I'm out of luck on the slide issue right?

But all other warranties still apply right? Freightliner 5yr, Cummins 5yr, etc[/QUOTE]

The new firm completed the purchase around mid July and they were in BK for 4-6 months.

My rig went into service around the same time as yours ( 7/2/2008 ), therefore our one year factory warr. expired last July. I went to Decatur in June while they were in BK and never realized it as they treated me royally. Fixed everything on my list and then some.

As far as all the other mfg. warr.. I guess they will warr. them as long as they stay in bus. Power gear for one is hurting and thus the lag in warr. approval and del. of parts. Hopefully they'll make it and again become customer oriented .

tedward1555... I'd be reluctant on adding a external piece of angle iron. I'm not sure if there's enough clearance. This is especially true of the large living room slide. In looking at the clearances the bedroom and the kitchen slide seemed to have plenty of clearance, but on the large slide there is some type of hard plastic trim that the bottom of the slide rides on as it goes in. This is why it's important to countersink the screws and even let the screws pull in slightly deforming the bottom material into a slight dimple.

By the way, not sure if I mentioned it or not, but I did all three slides even though all of them weren't sagging.

Another note on this and other Fleetwood problems, if anyone goes, or is going, to the Fleetwood Owners Rally this summer in either Indiana or Illinois, you can get them to fix things like this. You need to fill out a work repair form prior to the Rally. I attended the last one in Wyoming last year and there was a lot of folks that had the Fleetwood factory tech's fix problems that you'd probably never get fixed otherwise. Didn't matter how old the rig was either.

Took it to a Fleetwood Dealer and asked him to please contact Fleetwood before repairing it because it seems to be a common problem... They didn't bother of course and they seem to have fixed it well, but the service rep didn't actually know what had been done and I couldn't talk to the tech. I still don't know whether or not I can put an angle iron on the outside of the others to prevent this from happening. Guess I'll have to call Fleetwood myself.

I thought the fix was to put three screws in the bottom. Your photo shows three screws in the side. What am I missing??

I think you're right and there are no screws in the bottom. Like I said, I don't know what they did other than caulk it and make it look pretty.... just the beginning of the experience I had with them.

I think it took more than just caulk. I also dislike it when they won't let you see what the tech is doing , however I never left a repair shop without an explanation of what they did. This was when it was warr. or if I paid for it. I think that's the least they could do for you.

Please let us know if you find out.

Hey Cliff; after the experience I had (my first visit to a dealer for service) I've decided I'm on my own... So a buddy and I checked tolerances all the way around and this weekend we're going to add support structure ourselves. We're using:
Aluminum Architectural Angle Equal Leg
Size: 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 x 1/16"
Length: 4' 0-0"

I'll post pics after we finish up..

Thanks for the tips. I squirted silicone caulk under the angle and pulled it up with one #8 SS screw. Didn't look like it needed more. Then put a bead along edge.

Hi I read the posts with great interest as I have experienced the same issue.

Over the weekend I discovered the underside of the two Slides on the CURBside were bowing out. The Wood or whatever it is was separating from the SLIDES on our 2008 Safari/Cheetah 40 SKQ

The 2 Slides on the ROADSIDE were fine, the also had what looks like a piece of THICK fiberglass 1/2 thick x 3-4 inches wide or thick PLASTIC as a re- enforcement running along the Width OF THE SLIDE on both ends.

08 Safari Slides Issues No Issues pictures by PJG_01 - Photobucket

If the roadside slides were re-enforced, then why wasn't the curbside also done?

I have sent a note to MONACO TECH Support. NO RESPONSE YET

08 Safari/Cheetah SKQ

The issue with the slide floor is when the floors are made and set in the vac table the sheet metal is cut just a 1/4 inch longer then the floor.the sheet metal need to be left longer so when you install the floor onto the bottom of the room you can bend it up and secure it behind the side molding when we did the repairs that"s how we fixed the root cause.
