Hey Gang,

I would like to wire an additional shade rocker switch on to the existing shade switch and put it on the center of the dash with the other existing switches.
I would therefore be able to be activate in two seperate places.
The existing is a six wire switch that is wired into the ignition system.
How, exactly, do I wire the new switch without burning down my Bounder?

Are you referring to the switch that raises/lowers the front window shade? On my 08 Bounder Diesel I have two switches (two shades) located on the dash next to the stereo. Where is your existing switch? Sounds like you would need a three way switch for sure. But of course being a former party pooper and now a pooper scooper, I really don't have a clue. Maybe Cliff will post on the Yahoo Bounder site and get an answer so we will all be smarter.

The terminology you are using is way above my head; poopers and scoopers sounds like adult toys to me
I only have one front shade for the whole windshield and the switch is located by the drivers left side next to the side window.
It's a bad spot to me except while sitting in the driver's seat

All you need is a three way rocker switch. 9'-4" of small gauge wire(preferably in different colors), a saw to cut a hole in the dash, a means of extinguishing any fires you start when cutting the hole and therefore cutting (shorting) wires.

I'm having second thoughts...wait until Cliff gets credible information from the Yahoo bounders.

Cliff....you listening or you in the cooking sherry already.

Guess "Big Bucks" Cliff uses the expensive stuff; I prefer Carlo Rossi in the gallon jug and as always shake before drinking for that
foamy flavor enhancement. and ?
I've got the additional 8 wire rocker shade switch and took out the center counsel blank plug but no wiring diagram yet.

I'm at Lazy days and the FMA rally starts on Tuesday. The FW techs will be here and I will ask them their opinion.

Steve

I spoke to the techs here at the FMA rally and they said you could either cut the wires and extend them to a switch on the dash or splice in another set of wires and route them to another switch on the dash. Recently I was thinking of something along those lines and couldn't find the fuse for that switch so I called FW and found out it is the 7th down on the right side of the BCC labled as spare

Hey Cliff,

The fuse position is P6 as you have said.
I've blown it trying to splice into the existing wires from old to second switch, purchased from Fleetwood.
Must have done something wrong but may try again.
Thanks for following up on my question, buddy.

Hey Cliff and all who have a 2006 and newer Bounders,

I have found that the rocker switch, controlling my power shade, should be on the center part of dash along side most other switches. There is an area next to the radio switch that has a blank that can be taken out and the switch installed in it's place.
I had to splice into the original switch harness wiring and use six out of the 8 wires to make it work. It won't work with the original switch inline plus the new switch. Use only one switch.
#6 fuse will blow in the BCC.
After 2 attempts, it works perfectly so when I want to extend the shade, at night for privacy, my wife won't have to lean over the drivers seat and down to the old switch area to activate shade. She loves it so if you have the same problem let me know in a private message.

Yah baby....it works,

Steve

We had a motorized MCD duo-shade installed for our windsheld last summer. We had 3 blanks next to the bank of rocker switches that operated the dash fans, genny, scare light & radio. Those blanks were the perfect spots for the 2 new rocker switches that control the day & night shades.

I just wish the switches the installer put in were labeled (like I see they are in new FW coaches). The ones he put in are just plain & I keep forgetting which switch operates which blind. I don't want to use a label-maker because that'd look cheezy.

Hi Lori,

Mine states "SHADE" in center with "UP" at the top and "DOWN" at bottom.
Ask if you can use the 2008 rocker switches when you call Fleetwood Parts. 800-322-8216.
They cost about $14.50 each.

Thanks, Steve. I think the ones I saw on new FW models had separate switches, one labeled "DAY" & one labeled "NIGHT" for duo-shades.

We're going back to this accessory company in the spring for LED or LCD TV changeouts. I'll ask if he can get me factory labeled switches.

The only issue I had with mine was that it was wired to a power source that was controlled by the ignition key. I found a convenient source that was hot all the time and rewired it so I don't have to turn the key on every night and every morning. I prefer the switch where it is because I use it as a sun visor when I'm driving and it's easy to operate where it is. If it's over by the radio it's a bit harder to get to when you're driving.

Hey Alan,

The hot wire source sounds good so how did you wire the switch?
Can you describe the back of the switch wiring?
