Furnace Themostats

our 2001 Fleetwood Expedition has the front and rear thermostats (or controllers) mounted in a cabinet above the driver. How do these monitor the actual temp in the front and rear spaces?

There is typically a remote-mounted sensor about the diameter of a half dollar, white, dome-shaped with vents, in each living space.

Those thermostats probably have a remote temp sensor in each location, and that's how it senses the temps.

My sensors are black oval shaped in the controlled area.
