Generator Access?
I've been doing some looking and research towards possibly upgrading to a DP and really like some the Expeditions I am seeing, particularly the 40X. My question is how to access the generator. Does it slide out from the front? It appears the Discovery does have a slide out genny, but cannot tell on the Expeditions. Thanks!

I had a problem with my QD 6000 just after buying coach new. I took it to the Cummins/Onan service center in Forest Park, Ga. On my coach they had to use jacks to raise the front, take some rails loose, and what ever else they had to take loose , to able to drop it down to fix my issue. In short, I think if under warranty no problem, if paying for it yourself, more labor involved to fix certain issues that can't be reached otherwise. So, I guess for sure it would be nice to have one that slides out. JMO

Discovery has for sure, genie slide out. Looking at pix of the Expedition, the little clasp at the bottom front would indicate slide out as well.

My 07 Discovery does NOT have a generator slide. Those generators are all sealed up. Don't need to slide it anywhere to do a filter/oil change. Generator slide something more to maintain. Not a deal breaker.

I also am able to do oil/filter change with no problem. The issue I had
required it being pulled to get to the problem. It was a bracket under the cowling that was broken. My MH generator placement, may be just a bit different than some. Of course, it does have the front entry hood for access to sundry items along with it being mounted in there.

Might not be a deal breaker but average cost to drop and put back is $500

Man, for sure. Simple repairs that would amount to very little take on a whole other life if that genset has to come out. Get a DP with a genset slide, not only will it save you money, but it will dramatically increase the number of service centers and mobile techs able to work on our genset. May never need to pull it, but if you do, you will be glad it is accessible.
My two cents,
Steve
