Grade brake.

2005 FTWD Southwind 32vs, 8.1 engine. There on the dash is a button labeled "Grade Brake". No paperwork came with the MH to explain the operation of stuff. So, when I see Grade Brake I think Jake Brake like on my Big Truck.

Going down a couple hills and gaining speed I pushed the Grade Brake switch to 'on'. Nothin'. Am I operating the switch properly? Do I have a faulty Grade Brake system?

I hope you saw towards the end of that article, the downshifting will take place automatically once you touch the brakes. I did the same as you , then I hit the brakes. Works darn good and you don't have to move the shift lever.You can download the chassis guide here RV Chassis Guide

I have installed a complete Grade Brake System aftermarket on my 2003 Workhorse. I wrote a piece about it. It works as well or better than the OEM version.
