Has anyone actually weighed their front axle? Revolution

Currently looking at 2016 Revolution. I'm concerned about the 14,600 lb front axle. Has anyone weighed their front axle and corners?

The Dream with a 17,000lb front seems a lot better.

I'm also looking at the Entegra Aspire and Newmar Dutch Star. 19,000 lb on the Dutch Star and 17,000 lb on the Aspire.

Ours is an older Revolution... 2003. It has a 12,000 lb front axle and a 20,000 lb rear.

Weighed it fully fueled, water tank full, propane full, fridge full, and all the other stuff one 'needs' to camp.

Front axle weighed about10,200 and the rear was 18,800.

Haven't weighed the corners because I haven't found anyone near us that can do it.

I no longer have the weight sheets, but we had our 2011 42W weighed with full water and fuel and I remember we had plenty of excess capacity on all axles.

I think what would really make a difference in weight would be slides. I know that was the root of the problem with the recalls for front tires that were under rated. I have no slides and put "H" rated all the way around anyway. Better safe than sorry.

This is the data sticker from in back of the driver's seat in my Coach

And this is the sticker from inside the closet.

Note the differences in the weight ratings on the front axle. Back when there was a recall on the weight on the front axles part of the fix was to replace the data sticker in back of the driver's seat. I suspect that is why there is a difference between the two. To meet the front axle weight rating I needed "H" rated tires.

I have a Gillig chassis so mine may be different. A call to American Coach might answer your questions.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Glenn

On our coach, the fuel tank is moved back to closer to mid coach...relieving the front axle of some weight. We had a 14,600 front axle on an 09 Allegiance, no issues. Where is your fuel tank?

We purchased the 2016 Monaco diplomat which is on the same chassis and we have same Floorplan as the 42s. With all our stuff front axle was 13,500. We put less heavy equipment in the most forward pass thru storage

I thought they had taken care of their weight problems and notice that AC only makes 3 tag axle models these days. With the older Rev's like our single rear axle, the weight is at max when loaded and doesn't leave anything for the hitch weight, if required and we don't. With the tags, many of them were over max in the front. Now, I thought that they made sure of the front axle capacity and with only the tag model offered on the rear, they were good to go, back there.
Hate the only choice of a full wall slide with the AC's, so would probably go with Entegra given the choice and it comes with a two year warranty. I like the Cornerstone, but am told by an owner, that the brand new Aspires offer plenty these days and at quite a savings over the CS. You won't see a full wall room on an Entegra, either. Lazydays, FL has a beautiful 1 1/2 bath CS on sale for a 1/2 mil +, but a knowledgeable buyer, told me it could be bought straight out for around $465K or so.
Haven't looked into the Dutch Star all that much and especially since we're done trading and even thought we were, before recently getting this one. We never buy new, anyway.

I might add that we're a good ton to the good on the front and with what you're describing, some of the weight most likely got moved to the rear, so with the 14,600, it's probably good. Sounds like the independent suspension model with a 55 degree cut, as well.

We have a 2016 Revolution 42T. Fantastic coach and we absolutely love it.

There is no place to get the four corners weighed where we live, so we could only do front and rear at a CAT scale. I don't have the certification paper with me (it's in the coach) for the exact numbers, but we had plenty of wiggle room and were fully loaded at the time. Hope this helps a little bit, at least.

Thanks everyone for the information. Can anyone speak to the insulation level of the American coach line? I can not find the r values of the floors, roof or walls. I can find both Entegra and Newmar r values with the nod going to Entegra but both have excellent insulation.

I'd note the Dutch Star is 19k because they had a front weight problem after going to full tile with the new slides. (Only know because we looked at them prior to our purchase this fall of the Tradition.)

No idea on the coach you are looking at but remember weight behind the rears will take weight off the fronts also.

However thanks for reminding me I need to get weights once we are fully loaded!

Tom
