I've got a question for those with a Pace with the 4 round headlights, 5001 and 5006 sizes as I recall.

Has anyone done a swap to the halogen conversion with a replaceable bulb versus the stock sealed beam? Did you seem to get a benefit? How did it work in comparison to just using the factory round foglights down low?

I'm thinking about spending the money to upgrade if there is a noticeable benefit...your opinions would be helpful.

Something along the line of a Hella e-code lamp is what I have in mind.

Could you possibily mean 4 rectangle headlights? I have the 4 rectangle head lights on my MH and they are great. Befor you spend a bunch of money. Make sure they are aimed correctly. Try this, cut a piece of 1"x4" board to fit on the 3 bumps on the lights. Then use a mechanics square with built in level, to make sure the lights are pointing level or just a touch down. That will put the hot spot on the pavement. Now you can see weather they need to be aimed left or right. Once you get the headlights pointing in the right direction, you might want to add a Bosch 12 volt relay to the lights to get the correct voltage to them. This will get the voltage in the 13.5-14 volt range, instead of 12-12.5 volts. It's just amazing how much voltage drop there is from the headlight switch, dimmer switch and undersized wires.

These are definitely round sealed beam units. I'm just curious, since these lights are marginal in comparison to other lamps out there, has anyone swapped them out for a different variety. This photo is identical to my front end.

I like the Silverstars as well. Only problem is Sylvania doesn't make any of the upgraded halogen lights in the 5001/5006 size. That leaves me still looking for a conversion. Hella makes the e-code replacement with a really good reflector and the option of up to a 100w bulb...I'm just curious if anyone has done the conversion itself.

I learned something new today. I had a customer with a 1997 Pace Arrow with rectangle head lights. I just assumed Fleetwood made them all the same.

There are headlight conversions for 5001 and 5006 systems, but you will have to look around. There are two steps to improving your headlights:
1) Replace or upgrade the wiring to better handle the current.
2) Replace the sealed beams with Hx type lenses.

The easiest way to upgrade the wiring is to run new wire from the battery and use a relay powered by the original wiring harness to turn the lights on and off. This way you don't have to mess with the wiring under the dash.

Eurolamps (this is a link) has a 5006 conversion on their web page. Call them to ask about a 5001 conversion.

I have an IPF conversion for H4 (which is a high/low beam combination), but I don't think IPF has any single bulb conversions.
