Heart Freedom 20

Well it looks like my Heart Freedom 20 inverter/charger in my 98 american eagle has finally given up the ghost. Anyone have experience in swapping out the inverter/charger, IE whats involved, what you replaced it with and so on. Fleetwood says that there is currently no inverter/chargers on the market that does what the old freedom did. That new systems must be added to duplicate what was in there. Any experiences or advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

Pick up a Xantrex or Magnum PSW 2000 watt inverter charger with a remote.

The battery cables will be the same size and the 2, 120 volt romex cables, will connect to the in and out on the power strip.

I just replaced my source manager a few months ago.

To replace it you'll need to get a inverter/charger
A transfer switch
A 60 amp small sub panel breaker box

I purchased a Freedom 458. From Colorado Standby
A 50amp transfer switch off Amazon
A sub panel from home Depot

The swap isn't a bad job.
Disconnect batteries, unplug shore power.

There's a end cover on left side of source manager remove it and top cover.
Take a few cell pics of wiring.
Remove source manager.

You have any questions or concerns, need part numbers, let me know...

Thanks Mackwrench for the quick reply, pics and detailed schematic, all of the stuff in those pics look identical to mine. As far as that freedom 458 goes, did you get the model with dual in dual out? Would that be the one that does the job?, and thanks again, I'm sure I'll have some more questions.

Just so you know those Freedom Combi inverters have a pair of glass fuses on the circuit board inside the case which are prone to age related failure. If yours just stopped charging, but did not release the magic smoke there is a fair chance the fault is in these 2 glass fuses which can be replaced in a mater of minutes after getting the case open and accessing the circuit board.

Yes, what he said^^^^^
Our 2000 vintage experienced this once, on the transfer sw circuit. I converted these fuses to external ez access.
