Heat went out, but now "fixed" - 98 Discovery

On my last trip, both furnaces stopped working. They had been working fine before the trip, but left me very chilly last weekend. I was puzzled as to why both would stop at the same time.

I was not out of LP, full tank. And the gas was turned on because the refrigerator was running on gas and the hot water heater was too. When I turned on the thermostat, the blower fan would come on after a few seconds. Then, I could hear the furnace light. But after a couple more seconds, it would go out and attempt to re-light.

Both front and back units were doing the SAME thing.

Ready for the idiot answer? When I had my LP tank filled, the propane attendant turned off the gas valve at the tank, as he is supposed to. However, afterwards, he only cracked it back open. I wasn't paying attention, I guess.

Anyway, I suppose that the valve was open just enough for the refrig and water heater to work, but when the furnace lit, the gas pressure must have fallen, causing the furnace value to close. I never went outside to check this value since other appliances were working on gas. Live and learn!

Happy camping!

I've had both my furnaces go out at one time. One blew a fuse caused by heavy rain. 2nd one the blower squirrel cage would not turn. Realigned cage and motor.
