Help American Dream Water Problems

We left for out trip to Florida.

We have been plagued with problems.

The cruise control that worked intermittently that it went to the shop to be fixed does not work at all now

I figured that I could get by without it, but now we have water problems

when the pump is turned on water comes out of the city water supply connection

the bypass valve is is closed.

I filled the tank before I left.

Is there a check valve at the city water connection to keep the water from coming out???

It is dark and cold and windy here now, I will check in the morning, but I am giving serious taught to aborting this trip, returning to Rochester to have the shop fix the cruise and water problems.

I don't know your coach specifics, but generally, you should have a handle to switch from "fill tank" to "city water", so you want to check that. Otherwise, there is a check valve in the system. Before you abort your trip, if you could find a water connection, you could try switching between pump and city water which may clear the stuck check valve. If your final destination is going to be city water only, perhaps your dealer can have it fixed there. Another option would be to cap off the city water hose connection until you needed it. Good luck.

On mine the check valve is part of the city water connection hookup. RV parts stores carry it. I would take the old one off and clean it. I always use a water filter when filling the fresh water tank or using the city water connection.

The check valve may have gotten something stuck in it when you filled your tank or it just stuck open. If you can hook to city water, run some water through it, that may reseat the valve, check if that took care of the problem. If it doesn't you can buy a plug with hose threads at most hardware stores, Lowes, or Home Depot. Just plug the connection until you connect to city water. Not worth canceling your trip, go and enjoy yourself.

I am not sure what type power your rig has but on my 454 chev big block my cruise did the same thing and it turned out to be a vacuum leak @ the carb. I never new one had anything to do with the other but it did. Cruise works every time I push the button now.
A $2.00 part can sure wreck your trip. I use the cruise all the time even @ 35mph.

It was the check valve and I was able to reset it with a small screw driver.

We are retired so our schedule is flexible.

We have rescheduled the trip for March. There is a list of "SMALL" items that need to be fixed so have drop the unit off to have them all fixed at once (Anyone willing to pay the bill?)

I noticed you also posted today about going to Florida and asking about your water freezing.

Correct, the plan now is to go down end of February/beging of March which raises the question of operation in colder temperatures, We had planned on putting it to bed for the winter after this aborted trip.

NONONONO, if it is already winterized leave it alone and buy a couple 6 & 7 gal water containers to use until you get into warmer weather then fill and clean the tanks. Then stay longer in the warmer weather until the threat of freeze is over. Then head home. JMO, Tim

Our old motorhome cruise control was interlocked with the Jake brake switch. When activated it kicked out the cruise control until turned back off ?????

When mine was working it did just the opposite, the exhaust brake would not work while the cruise was on.

I have no power at the switch to turn the cruise on

I know how your feeling. I want everything working before we leave home...especially a long trip.

Mine is in the shop right now getting a new front levelor and checking the windshield on the drivers side. All the filters, fluids and everything are done. Getting 4 new tires in the back got 2 new in the front before I leave 2nd half of January.

We only go about once a year, going to try and go more often on shorter trips too.
