Hello All,

I hope that someone can assist me. The Revolution is still sitting in my driveway while I putter and get to know her. I noticed that the jacks were starting to make "dents" in the hot-top of the drive, so I decided to retract them and place boards under the jacks to spare the drive any more damage. Before I had a chance to bring the slides in, hubby decided to help me and erroneously retracted the jacks before I could tell him that I wanted to bring in the slides first. The air dumped and the jacks wents up. I was cringing and I hope that it did not harm the slides or warp them although the coach did settle very slowly and smoothly.

At this point in the scenario the levelers were all retracted and the coach was sitting on tires on a flat driveway and all 4 slides are out...

I decided to bring the slides in before I did anything else and I wanted to see if I remembered where all the switches were. I picked up all area rugs and made sure the driver and psgr chairs were pulled forward. I went to the bedroom and I found the switches on the hallway wall at the entrance to the bedroom. One switch was positioned vertically and was labeled "passenger side in and out". I pressed "in" and that slide did not move. I then tried the switch that was marked "driver side". It was not marked "in or out" and instead of being positioned vertically, it was horizontal. I toggled it and that slide came in very smoothly

I then proceeded to the front of the coach. I found the control switches over the right front windshield and again, one of the switches was marked
"passenger side in and out" and it was a vertical switch. I pressed "in" and the passenger slide came in very smoothly. The other switch horizontal and was labeled "driver side" and again, nothing happened when I pressed it.

I then returned to the bedroom and tried the passenger slide switch again and it slid in but with a little wiggle motion...sort of up and over a bump motion before it settled down tightly (the PO told me that this wiggle motion was normal for that slide and also the front driver's slide). I then was able to make the two rear slides and the front passenger go back out but still the front driver's side slide did not move in or out.

HELP...Am I missing something? When the coach was delivered to my driveway all of the slides worked fine when the seller extended them for me. I noticed that there is a mystery switch on the left night stand (next to the ceiling fan switch) that resembles pictures of a lock in a locked position and in an unlocked position. Does this have anything to do with the slides or what the heck is it???

I am hoping that this is just new coach jitters or maybe "Baby" is just being ornery...or I am being a dunce...

It is now dark. I am inside my stick house, frantically looking for answers in all my manuals. All slides are fully out and the levelers are not down..."Baby" is just resting on her tires for the night. I am going to wait until Saturday to tackle the entire procedure again. (Bob is scheduled for surgery tomorrow and I will be at the hospital with him all day)

I am going to take a big breath and try everything again from scratch on Saturday. I am going to open the door, start the engine, make sure the parking brake is on and try to close up all of the slides once again.

Can anyone give me any idea what I might be doing wrong? Is there a secret order that this must all be done in? Should the engine be on or off when I am deploying the slides? Or should the generator be on? And why wouldn't all the slide switches say "in/out"???

Thank you most kindly for reading this and sending this dunce your answers to my dilemma.

Faith

From what I have found running the generator will help to bring the slides in if you have low battery voltage. I think it is pretty normal to have the slide come in with a little wiggle motion if the coach is not level. If the driveway is pretty level it shouldn't hurt to bring the slides in with the jacks up.

My coach only has 2 slides but both of them have there own seperate key switch to turn on power. I would think yours should be similiar.

The little switch with the lock/unlock, this is for the front door.

There are many posibilities.. I would re-level the rig BEFORE moving the slides.. They are fairly secure when in, and fairly secure when out, but in between if the rig is at all unusuall.... It can cause issues. (however the fact that some of the slides worked properly makes it sound like you won't have problems.

After searching for interlock switchs and such. If nothing else works try this.

First shut down power... Unplug from the house (Assuimes it's plugged in) and turn off the battery disconnect.

Now operate the switch at least 2 dozen times,in fact 3 or 4 dozen might be better.

Restore power and try again..This may clean a dirty switch.

You did not mention what year your revolution is ....and... I have a Bounder but still a Fleetwood product so....

My coach has 2 switches in the bedroom for the 2 bedroom slides and 2 switches in the front for the LR slides. One switch chooses which slide you want to address (the drivers or passengers) and one switch addresses what you want it to do (come in or go out). If you are sitting relatively level you can operate the slides without worrying about creating damage (wether your levelers are down or not). You do not have to use the levelers when you use your coach. If the site you are on is level you can just sit on your tires. The levelers will provide some stabilization but if you are level you are level. (You do have a level indicator, right?). You don't push the 2 switches at the same time. You set the slide choice to which slide you want to operate and then push the in or out button and hold it until the action is completed.
Make sure your battery sets are turned on. In my coach you can operate the slides with the ignition key turned on but the motor does not need to be running. The slides will not operate with the ignition key off.

My Allegiance has a switch on the night stand on the left night stand...it's a remote generator start.

You made the statement to check and see if the parking brake is on, I hope so that's all you have to keep Baby from rolling away. Has baby been plugged in while you have been playing? If not check voltage may need to plug in or run gen. And turn switch on when moving slides. Mine is on a Spartan chassis and jacks will not retract unless you start up and air bags fill.

I have a 2005 Rev with two left slides. My dealer this morning said to have the Cat diesel engine running on high idle to return the living room slide to the travel position the reason being I have older batteries for the chassis system 2 ea. 12 volt bats. one load checked at 955 amps and the other at 855 amps. The slide needs all the amps to start the in motion as the rollers go up and over a lift so the slide will enter. My slide motors are electric and will not reenter the coach with out the Caterpillar engine running.
I hope this helps.

Thank you all. I am going to get up early tomorrow and try your suggestions. There is so much to get used to with a new coach, but I know that I can always count on the kind people here to help me solve the problems.

Thanks again.

My manual says to have the engine running when moving slides.

Thank you everyone...

I was able to figure out the slide situation with all of your suggestions. It appears that I must have the engine running to get the slides in/out. And as for the little wiggle on my slides...two run out flat and two give a little hop and wiggle to get into position...that is normal per Fleetwood.

I guess the bigger and newer coach, the more "bells and whistles" we all must learn and get accustomed to. I am still learning, a bit apprehensive, but really excited about everything.

Every day I look at this huge behemoth sitting in the dooryard and frankly, I say to myself...."How am I ever going to be able to operate this and remember everything without wrecking something??" It can be overwhelming at times. ANd then I reflect on the good old days of canvas tents, sleeping bags, and air mattresses, but then I laugh and say..."been there, done that, and now I need my creature comforts..."

Thanks to everyone for the hand-holding of this nervous nelly. It is truly appreciated.

Faith

Faith,

I think your Revolution is acting normal.

Fleetwood wants you to level before deploying the slides and to retract before you bring the jacks up.

Engine running or connected to shore power or running the genny is a best practice.

You are going to have a ball in your new coach.
