Hot wire in rear plug

A friend of mine has a 2000 Discovery, I'm trying to help him keep the battery in the toad from going dead while being towed. We've checked every fuse we can find in the mh. The aux brake system is killing the battery in the toad via the cigarette lighter. Anybody know where the fuse would be located? Fleetwood say's to call Freightliner, Freightliner say's to call Fleetwood my friend is in his late 70's and don't need the extra stress and hassel. The battery in the toad checks good the car is only 2 years old. Help me help him.i need the hot line in the rear plug to be hot. The rest is simple.

Have you first checked to see if there is 12V+ at the rear plug? Should at least be a 6way, if not a 7way.

There is no power at the rear plug, this is the problem.

Ok, is it wired for a charge line?
I'm just making sure we don't dive off for missing the simple things. And with limited information, I have to ask.

Yes the wire is there, all pins have wires but no power with key inany position. All lights on toad work for towing through mh. Just need power to be able to keep battery charged, brake system kills battery in toad.

On my 2000 Bounder 39 z there was a fuse panel in the right rear compartment. I believe I had to remove some screws. I don't own the rig any more. But it took me a while to figure it out. I had lost my tail lights to my boat I was towing. Good luck

As a point of clarification...how many pins are in the plug? Pull behind trailers and 5th wheels have seven pins, one being a hot line to charge the trailer's battery. My plug for my toad has only six pins...there is no charge line.

How many pins on the two plug.

NOTE: You have cited one of the lesser reasons I do not like those box in the driver's seat brake systems. But enough of that.

Towed Charge .. Look it up, it is a product you can buy.

Or upgrade the brake system to one like the US-Gear, (It eats electricity but it includes a tie line so the motor home provides it) or one of the assorted systems (M&G for example) that eat compressed air.

I understand the system is not good, he's the one that has to deal with it. He's leaving in the morning without it connected, we're in Florida with flat roads. He will have his mechanic set it up in S.C. when he gets home. Thanks for the suggestions and advice. I was just trying to help him save a few bucks. He shouldn't be using a jumpbox at the age of 79 every time he gets to a campground to jump off his toad.

Simple quick fix till you find the fuse.....

Go to the parts store, get a 25' roll of #12 wire(black) and also get a 20 amp. circuit breaker( auto reset) , cable ties, and run from the battery pos. terminal to the 7 pin plug terminal #4 with the circuit breaker in line. Then the same thing from the TOAD plug to the TOAD battery. No circuit breaker on the TOAD end needed.

Buy a battery jump and accessories box at Walmart, etc. plug the brake buddy into that. Just charge at destinations. About $50. Works great!
Make sure it has a cig lighter outlet. Most do!
