How do I remove the doghouse?

Hi I was told by my finance company to get a smog certificate to finish processing my paperwork. I have an appointment to take it to a smog place and they need access to the engine compartment so I need to know how to remove the doghouse.

I have already looked it over but I don't see how it comes undone. Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks, Joe

Don't know about yours, but ours has a latch at the back hidden in the carpet that takes a 5/16th allen key. Good luck.

4 (maybe 6) large flat head screws hold it down. 2 will be on the firewall the rest will be on the floor. There is a lip around the actual doghouse that they attach to. You need a really large flathead screwdriver to remove the rather large screws or there is a special tool for it. The screws are the same as the ones for the step so you can check your house batteries.
But why do you need to remove the doghouse for a smog test?
It's been a long long time since I've had to do one but thought they just check the exhaust output with a test probe.

They need access to the engine to do the smog check I was told by the smog people. I guess the carpet peels back around the base of the doghouse??? I will look into it when I get home.
