Interior lights

Any way to not have the lights come on when I open the door?

There has to be a switch on the door. If you locate that simply disconnect it and cap the wire off.

Someone on this site devised a magnet that fits across the magnet on the door to keep the lights from activating

Prior owner installed a switch at the fuse panel located on the passenger side, 4th cargo bay (house battery/house fuse bay). Switch at door only shuts off lights after door is open and lights are on.

This is on a 2008 American Eagle. No reason why the on/off switch at the fuse panel wouldn't work for your rig.

If it's anything like the multiplex system on my previous '04 Tradition, there is a jumper on the board that enables or disables the auto-on function. I think they use a different supplier now than the one I had, but I suspect Fleetwood specs how it works. Call Fleetwood Customer Support and ask them.

I have a similar issue. 2018 Southwind. Whenever you open the door the front lights come on at full level for 30 sec and then fade back to original light level, either off or dimmed. I’d love to figure out how to defeat that “feature”.
Any ideas.

Most of those door switches these days are magnetic. On mine the door frame side is a small rectangular piece of black plastic attached with two screws. Looks kind of like a blank cover plate, that is the switch. A small magnet in the door activates the switch. Remove the cover plate and cap off the wire to disable the switch.
Hope this helps

Doesn't the magnetic switch also control the steps?

Good point, I guess it depends on the rig. Mine was a separate wire for steps and lights.
