New to forums ,
Just bought a 98 fw discovery 36T so I thought! Turns out I think the dealer sold me a 34q. The floor plan is the 34q and the length is 35ft!
Love the coach low miles and Great shape. Ins, tags and taxes are all higher.
Thank You,
Tim
Any help on this matter would be appreciated .

One thought is how long have you had the unit? Most mistakes can be repaired within 30 days. If the paperwork has not hit the DMV you can stop the process. If the deal has gone through the only recourse is to go to the DMV and present the facts. They can correct the problem with the dealer. As for any money back from the dealer good luck.

What does the sale contract say you bought?

If it says a 36T then the whole deal is null and void since you didn't get what the contract says. Although if the VIN is the same as the one you got then I'm not sure which a court would go by.

If ther contract says a 34Q then probably nothing you can do since you signed the contract for that unit. Maybe a lawyer at that point.

Hey Tim and welcome to the forum. Is there no decal or sticker indicating the model? Our Bounder has one near the entry door. Also, the model name often has nothing to do with the size...our "33C" is actually 34'4" long.

Thanks for the quick response,

All my paperwork says 36T on this, What I have discovered from just trying to learn everything about my new motorhome. The 34Q is 34 1/2 feet roughly 36 model being T or one of the other models is roughly 36.6. And the floor plan that we have is only offered in the 34Q model, Doubt if there's any real price difference just think the dealer should have known what they were selling.
If dear wife finds out about this she will probably want to take it back on principle alone. Plan on going full time in two weeks and definitely don't want to screw that up.
Thank You, Tim

I would get it straightened out if I were you. The time to think about selling it is now. When you do eventually sell it, you will be held responsible for having the proper documents and then it will be real difficult to do.

Cliff

PS
You could call FW 800-322-8216 and give them the FW ID# and they will verify what in fact you have.

I agree with getting it straightened out now. We purchased a 98 Discovery 36T several years ago, and didn't pay attention to the smalls details. When we traded up, a yers or so later, the dealer found our coach was registered as a 97 Freightliner. That was the chassis manufacture date. It took some time and help from Fleetwood to get that straightened out.

The title probably doesn't specify the floor plan, which is what the 36T refers to. The legal paperwork necessary to re-sell should be ok as long as the VIN and model year is right. But if it says "36T" anywhere on the official title, then get it fixed NOW.

As you are discovering, RV sales people are too often clueless about their product and frequently give out wrong information and flat-out bad advice. That said, you liked the RV when you bought it, so what's not to like now? Don't cut off your nose to spite your face!

I doubt any court would void the sale, but would give you an adjustment if you could find a valid difference in value.

Then called Dealer to see what can be done
To fix this problem.was told they would check.
So waiting for them to check there records to see if they took it in as a 34q or 36t.
Waiting for next reply from dealer.
Everybody here has been a great help and would like to say. Thank You Again

Time to hit the Internet and find examples of price differences. Although you may not have gotten what you paid for you paid for what you got - and may find that you still did quite well. Like another said - you liked what saw enough to buy it no matter what it is. One idea - if you want to push it. Divide the sales price by 36 for $/foot and multiply by 34 and subtract. See if they bite. Doubtful but they don't seem to follow numbers very well and it might be scientific enough that they go for it. Rolling on floor.

Is this the same coach that you and the wife looked at when you made the deal, if you both liked it then I don't see much of a problem. Unless there is a cost difference between the two big enough to influence the yay or nay from the finance company.
