Locking Gas Spring for Bed Lift

Hi everyone,

In my 2017 Fleetwood Bounder 36H, there are two gas springs that help to lift the foot of the king sized bed so that the storage area beneath it can be accessed.

The spring on the right hand side has a red plastic tab that locks the spring in the upright position to hold the bed up for you while you put stuff in storage. You have to press the tab back in to allow the bed to come back down.

Anyway, our tab has worn out and I would like to replace the whole gas spring assembly (with the red locking tab).

Does anyone know where I might find a replacement?

Thanks!

Matt

Why not just get some new gas springs that have enough force to hold the bed up by itself without a lock?

No problem with the lock wearing out again.

Replacing every 2-3 years would convince me that's a poorly designed lock.

Happy Glamping.

Go to Home Depot and invest in a piece of strapping worth $2.00. A piece about 36" long would hold it up for you.

I'm a cheapskate, I cut the proper length off an old stick broom to prop up the bed.

I couldn't find the locking type used on our bed.

I simply measured the devices and ordered these from Amazon. The only concern I had was the ball-socket size, I took a chance with the Amazon parts...but they worked fine; even though I could have easily returned them.

Even if that was a problem, you could buy compatible mounting brackets.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These work fine, actually better than the locking type; they hold the bed up without having to hold it.
