Love our new RV but ?????
I just don't get it.
I've taken the coach in for warranty work 2 times so far. At least 20 items and there are still problems.
For example, I've asked the dealer to set the wiper park position. The blades go down onto the front body and then come up at an angle when you power them up. First time, dealer said theirs no problem. Second time they moved the arms so now the blades are not horizontal. Still operate the same. Soooo I emailed FleetwoodRV and they sent me a schematic on what angles the inside linkages should be at. Now I have to fix them?
My point of all this is...... Is anybody watching the farm? Is there a quality control group? Seriously, does anyone look?
Would we expect this kind of product if it was a luxury car?
Thanks and I'll sign off for now.

Sorry your having issues. You'll find FW very responsive. Document your issues call and email all your concerns. Be insistent, be calm, nice, believe me when I say almost if not all new coach owners undergo similar if not greater issues. It is inherent to the industry. Your dealer is the key to fast and responsive warranty work. If the dealer does not perform let FW know and arrange with another dealer better equipped to handle the issues. They are reimbursed for their work. Unfortunately these are very complicated homes on wheels and it will take a bit of time and patience to get thru what I call "new coach blues." All makes and manufactures unfortunately provide a product with, well not a high degree of QC. So we the consumer and the dealer deal with it, poor QC. That said, you will have a great coach that will provide many many years of enjoyment of the lifestyle the majority of RV'ers love. Hang in!

AND that is exactly why dw and I chose to buy an older dp brand that many sing the accolades of. We could afford and looked at many new and newer and shook our heads at the lack of fit and finish quality. It didn't help that we had looked at older rigs first. I am continually amazed at how many post there are about new rigs having issues. Nothing and no one gives you better advertising than a satisfied customer. Bad word of mouth or internet will kill your business. I do note that most older rigs are owned by DIYers. Those who are not, have to depend on their warrantee and pay the cost of the manufacturers bottom line. JMHO

If you judge a mh by the standards of a luxury car, you are never going to be happy. Despite the money you spent, you have bought a costco with one item of each on a separate shelf manufactured by somebody else. All they did was take the stuff out of the boxes and plug it together.
No, there isn't anybody watching the farm. The industry has developed a customized product that is a whole lot of separate products plugged together from different businesses.
No, they don't have quality control systems, they have you. You and your fellow owners have trained them to use you to make your rv work for them. Buyers routinely pick up their rv without doing a complete, detailed and thorough inspection of everything - yes that would take a couple of weeks.
You simply paid the money and drove off, losing your leverage.
Nobody but you has to look. All the quality control is done after you buy your rv based upon what you discover they screwed up at the factory and some dealers have good services and some don't.
The fact you don't know this means you didn't do your homework before you bought a new mh. You will always be constantly fixing and repairing and maintaining and spending lots of money and frustration.
You must find joy in this as others have found.
Don't worry, be happy! Enjoy your plug and pray contrivance.
Yes, you decided to play the game with unreasonable expectations, low knowledge, and too much credit and money for your own good...but it will work well enough at some point and you will grow to love that monster.

Thanks Clayobx,
I know it sounds like I'm bitter, I'm not.
Just don't get it and it's kind of funny in a strange way, especially when a piece of corner molding on the slide falls into your lap while your watching TV.

Ha ha, Larry I had a similar experience with a corner molding piece striking a cabinet handle bending it off and dislodging the molding. Yes, RogerS may have a point that I did not do my homework, completely. However, no one is that accomplished with so many systems right out of the assembly line to inspect and absorb in such a small time window. However, I'm not a pessimist, rather feel it's a challenge to correct the problems and gather knowledge of my sophisticated complex NEW toy! So we trudge on and get it fixed. Quite simple, don't you think? It will get fixed and you will have a new coach that will serve you and friends for a long time. There are so many with the sentiments that Gary, my fellow mutant has expressed that flow with the phrase " that's why I bought used." Two things here, one I had bought used before and had issues, many issues, as I'm sure Gary does, two I wanted a NEW coach that had updated systems, all systems from the chassis to the AC rooftop. If you and I did not buy new the world would have no used products to purchase, FACT !! So, be glad all you used coach brothers and sisters that we exist! . Just be patient and work with FW tightly, document, call, insist the dealer put you ahead as his or her number one priority, make nice, take pics send to FW, establish a strong relationship with the FW CS representative. Use that person one on one. The old saying"the squeaky wheel gets oiled" is so true in this situation. I've been in your shoes and it absolutely, positively gets resolved. Enjoy and learn, and have fun with your NEW toy. Heck I just love to sit and stare at all the bells and whistles. Brian in CS is a good contact. :thumb

If you want the true answers about your wipers call Truvision 336-373-8331. Before you call look at the wiper motor assembly and write down the numbers on the unit. I think it is a K followed by numbers. For example my K number is K31-0100. Those numbers tell them everything about your wiper system as supplied to Fleetwood. If you call Fleetwood customer service they don't know that Truvision is the supplier and builder of the wiper system.
When you look at the entire assembly, you'll realize it is preassembled by Truvision for your specific coach. Notice the heavy steel mounting plate. Fleetwood takes the nuts and washers etc off to mount on the body. They are not supposed to adjust the rod assemblies.
Ask for Meenie when you call Truvision and you'll be well served. She will be your contact to the engineers. When you call the number given, it won't sound like you called Truvision. You'll be calling the parent company Diesel Equipment and they will direct you to Truvision when you ask for Meenie.
If anyone is messing with the control rods of your system run away. Brian in Decatur stopped a mechanic from doing so while I was observing. So he knew there was no adjustment that was supposed to take place on the rod assembly.
Truvision diagnosed my problem over the phone. My drivers side wiper did not reach close enough to the window edge. The engineers suggested a change to the drivers side pivot. They sold it to me directly. Totally easy to install if you have some mechanical ability. No adjustment to the rods at all.

All the comment above are true, I too bought a new MH and have had trouble getting work done. Ended up doing a lot of the repairs my self with help and some advise from Thor Motor Home concierge service. BUT I just learned a very valuable lesson here from this thread. If something else goes wrong with my MH I will check to see who supplied the slide or microwave or windshield wiper or whatever it is that is giving me problems and deal with them directly. If my MH manufacturer is at a loss of what to do, I'm going to the supplier with make and model number to get answers, operating instructions etc.. Thanks guys for the advise.

We experienced similar issues after purchasing our Discovery. Several round trips (400 miles each) were required to get things resolved, and, over time, they were. Our dealer (LaMesa in Albuquerque) knew it was an inconvenience and expensive round trip, so they filled the tank with diesel to cover our expenses. Good guys!
To ilustrate what a stand up company Fleetwood is, a year after the warranty had expired, the cabinetry holding the stove and sink separated from the wall because the original build team missed the studs that would have held it. A letter to Fleetwood, and I was reimbursed for the rather expensive repair, no questions asked.
As Clay mentioned, it's a complex home on wheels, and there will always be "issues" to address and repair. Hang in there and enjoy!

You are not alone. I would be furious. Do not give up until you are happy.I did not like the quality and finish of the new Fleetwood products out there. I spent the same amount on a used DP got more RV. The first owner did all the running around getting it right.
Good luck.
