Has anyone else experienced problems with the main entry door latch? Since I have owned my coach, I have had the door latch refuse to "uncork" the door.

I had the door serviced but just today, it happened again. I went to the driver's door, only to find that because the lock mechanism is so far below the actual door lock, it takes super human fingers to twist the key and get the drivers door to unlock.

Am I just unlucky or are there others with this problem?

We had the same problem with our entry door lock. There is an adjusting screw but the entire door may have to be re-hung. Try graphite in the lock and pivot points.

As for the driver's door, I hope you are more nimble than me. I had one on the last coach and opted not to have it on the current one.

Rocky 2....Thanks for the reply. I told my wife that ours cannot be the only one with this problem. I will get some graphite and see if it cures the problem.

As for the driver's door, I was experiencing the same "contortionist" problem because Fleetwood puts a pull up pole along side of the interior door wall. I guess their designers have never been asked to climb into the driver compartment with this rediculous method. I solved the problem by purchasing a very nice 18" long exterior handle with rubber finger treads from CampingWorld. Now I can scamper up to my chair like a cat.

Laandy,

After two attempted break-ins, I've learned a little about that latch. The adjusting bolt is accessable from the edge of the door and requires a nut driver. You may need to remove a dust cap in the door's edge to access the adjuster. I don't remember what size nut driver, but just a turn or two one direction or the other will loosen up that latch. I'd recommend you have the driver's door open just in case your first attempt is in the wrong direction so you can un-latch from the inside.

Also, are you sure your 32V is on a P32 chassis? I thought all of them were on the W20 chassis.

Bluewind....Thanks for the info. I think you have explained what I need to do to solve this problem.

I had the UltraPower items installed on my unit on Wednesday and they told me that my chassis is the W20, not P32. I bought this used and referred to papers found in the owners briefcase which must be incorrect.

I just got a message from Fleetwood and they do not have a way to explain how to make this door latch adjustment and suggested I go to a RV Service dealer to have this done!!??!
"Unfortunately, we do not have any schematics that shows such an adjustment. We recommend you taking your motor home to a Fleetwood authorized dealer. The authorized dealers we show nearest you are:

Crest Chevrolet Inc, 909 W 21st St, San Bernadino CA (909) 883-8833

Giant Inland Empire RV, 1300 E Santo Antonio Dr, Colton CA (909) 872-1108

Mike Thompson RV, 910 RV Center Dr #4, Colton CA (909) 825-2433

Oh well, next time I'm in the neighborhood, I'll stop by.....

That is so typically Fleetwood. I will try to run over to the storage yard tomorrow and take a digital photo or two of the adjustment nut..not the nut who wouldn't try to answer your question.

I don't understand what the issue here is. I've got a mind like a steel trap but sometimes I forget to set it so boys, have mercy, please. Are you saying the main door won't open ("uncork")? From the inside or outside or does it matter. What does this adjustment do that you're talking about? Adjust the tension on the latch?

I had a problem with my screen door not closing and latching properly. It turned out to be the weather stripping being pinched between the hinge and jamb. I trimmed the stripping with a razor knife at the hinge and problem solved. I have a 2005 Bounder and don't have a drivers door.

The adjusting nut can move the door slightly. In our case, my wife could not open the door from inside the coach without using a little hip power. The adjustment can move the door frame. We also had to have the door re-hung because it was also a little high vs. the latch.

Our problem is from outside the main door. I still haven't gotten to RV service place, and it happened again on our vacation trip to Utah!

Luckily, I've learned to keep my driver's door unlocked and can get into the coach when it happens. The amin door opens without any problem from the inside.

I have a 99 Pace Arrow Vision 36B and have to slam the main entry door to get it to close fully. It seems the door lock mechanisms needs adjustment. The usual suspects have been interrogated including weather stripping etc. I am going to experiment (read fiddle) with it soon and will let you know how I make out. My neighbour had the same problewm with his 95 Pace Arrow, he never fixed it, traded for a 5th wheel instead.
