There are basically 3 or 4 kinds of slides, To answer your question we need to know what is sliding...

Power gear makes a nice "Rack and Pinion" type.. if you look under the slide, wile it's out you will see two long heavy duty bars with notches in the bottom (Gear teath like notches) this is the rack

There are a number of companies that make Hydraulic slides

I imagine someone makes an electric screw drive but have never seen one

Accu-slice makes cable cars,, With the slide out on the "Front" and "Back" of the slide (Front means toward the front end of the vehicle) you will see a pair of cables.

These are the major types.. NOTE: not a full list of makers.. We need to know what slide as they all have different manual overrides.

Also, it helps to know what brand. Example. Power gear, above.

On the power gear slides there is a lever on the end of the motor that has to be moved (Releases the brake) then you use a 3/4 inch wrench (Socket) on the nut that should be on one end of the shaft.. Alas, it's not on my rig.

Accuslide you use a battery operated power drill with a flexible hex shaft on the slide motor itself.. Of course you have to FIND the slide motor.

And that's just two methods.

I had no idea there are so many types of slides. Mine is a Power Gear and I believe that my main problem is finding the slide actuator, and mainly on the longer living room slide. It appears to be in the middle of the slide with a access in the ceiling of one of the compartments. One would have to almost stand on their head to do anything through the rather small opening. I was expecting an actuator on each end of the slide. My next step is remove the screws and look in the access hole to verify if this is the case.

Thanks for quick reply.
