I have a 08 Fleetwood Boudner 35H. I also have a Yamaha 650 V Star Classic motorcyle. On my class "C" I had a rack that was held in place with three receivers and you powered the motorcycle up a ramp. It worked pretty well and I had no problems. When I installed it on the Bounder, I found the rack was so much higher I could not get the bike on it so I started looking into lifts. The bike is pretty light (less than 600 lbs full of fuel) and I have found a lift the weighs 225lbs. As many of you know, there is splice in the frame on the 35H. I have spoken to the engineer at the lift company and he believes there will be no problem using this setup. I know Fleetwood frowns on these type systems but has anyone here tried this and how did it work?

How much weight capacity do you have available on your rear axle? With a 600# bike and a 225# lift, you're going to actually be adding something like 1200# to that axle. Maybe more, depending on your wheelbase.

That's independent of any problems with the frame. A good welding shop can reinforce the frame, but they can't change the GAWR.

Monty,

I talked to several lift companies and they all said no way. In addition to the increased weight on the rear axle you will loose weight on the front end. My 35e already wants some additional water weight to behave properly on the open road. If you find a system that works with our chassis, I am ready and willing to prepare our Bounder for the new device.

Since a lift would not work for me (gas MH) I carry my Harley in the bed of a 2008 Ford Ranger 4x4 with the seven foot box. Just another option.
