My slide has started resisting the urge to go in/out.

so, my first thought is that the battery is not as strong as it used to be.

question - I can't find anything in the folder of paperwork that explains if the slide can be moved manually. does anyone know how to do this?

I always ensure that I am level, and have tried putting the rubber conditioner on the seals, but each time it seems like the motor just barely has the power to move it in/out.

Kid,
Not sure on yours, but on my 1999 Bounder, I have to let the jacks down to get my slide to come in all the way. Same as sliding it out, the jacks have to be down and M/H level before it will slide all the way out. But the motor always seems to have enough power to move the slide. Wish I be of more help.

Okay gang, we're dealing with a fifth wheel here, not a motorhome...leveling systems and starting engines may not be an option...

Assuming your slide assembly/motor system is made by Power Gear, here is the link to their Fleetwood Travel Trailer Slide Manual...hopefully this will answer your questions.

Power Gear's home page can be found here if you need to look further.

When I bought my MH I asked the same question of the salesman. He said yes they can be hand cranked in and out in an emergency. Then said it would be like manually extending the landing gear on a 747 but yes. . . it could be done.

Good luck.

thanks for the advice and links.

I hope that having a "trailer guy" interlope in here didn't upset the apple cart.

next time I am outside I will be checking to see where the motors are on the slide.

Fleetwood makes all kinds of rigs. As such ALL are welcome here.

Now to the slide out....... If you can try the slide with the shore power connected and see if it makes a diff. If so, the battery or batteries are just not giving it enough juice.

Or it may be time to lube up the parts to the slide out under the rig. Silicone is the best thing to use as it does not attract as much dirt and such as a oil based lube.

Catch Ya Later,

Don
