What does the entry step button do on the 2017 35K bounder that is located just inside the door on the panel
When the ignition is off, and the steps are extended, the button lit keeps the steps from retracting each time the door is closed.

Keeps the steps open, even when the door is closed; as long as engine is off. Steps will retract as soon as the ignition is on and engine running, no matter the position of the switch.

Keeps the step from retracting while you're parked and the engine is off.

Whatever you do, don't step on the steps while they're moving!!!!

Ditto on don't touch or step on them when they are moving...that's about a $70.00 plus an hour on your back reaching up replacing the gear motor... mistake.

On mine it is a $250 mistake as I can't just replace the motor, it is a one piece unit.

Most likely it engages the auto retract feature of the step. When parked the step will extend when the door is opened and retract when closed. If you turn this feature off then the step will remain extended regardless. Should you start the MH engine then steps will retract as a safety feature regardless of the switch position. When the engine is running and the door is opened they will extend then retract when door is closed. The sensor is actually on the screen door so it is actually will act the same when the outer door is opened and the screen door is used.

I bought my BOUNDER used. After I got it home I noticed a little half moon dent in the lower edge of the exterior alum skin just below the door. I believe this happened when someone left a object on the top step. When the step retracted the object(possibly a tool) was caught between the step and the skin, denting it. Moral of the story...never NEVER EVER, place ANYTHING on the steps!
