New Mattress

I have a new 2018 Fleetwood Southwind and the king mattress is horrible. I want to replace with a new firm king mattress. I have 2 questions: first the current mattress doesnt measure the same as a new king mattress. It measure 74 wide by 76. Seems to be an odd size. A new king mattress is 76x80. Seems to ne enough room for the additional length and width but wont know until I try to put it in. Do RV makers use a custom mattress size?

The other issue is how do I get the new and old in and out of the coach door? Door measurement has less height than needed. I though about putting ratchet strapes on it and crunching it down to get it through the door.

We replaced ours with a Select Comfort RV mattress. You might want to consider checking them out. We love it.

Have one of the 8" for a couple of years. Really like it. Took it out of the old MH and put it in the new one. We are out for 7-10 days at at a time. Unsure how it will hold under nightly use if your full time. If you have a slide that the mattress goes under a cabinet or such, make sure the height is OK.

Went to Mattress Factory, gave them measurement and described what we wanted. They built it to our specs and it sleeps very comfortably.

You probably have a Calif. King bed. I always replace every bed in a RV. Junk.

Not a California King. Cal King is 72x84.

That 80 inch length ...may prevent the slide from closing. Better check that length before you buy.

As with everything with an RV nothing is simple. I will measure with it closed. That is my fear that it prevents it from closing. Then what, I have a mattress I cant use.

We found that Thor was using a size different from all the others and called it an RV Ring. We went to a local mattress company, Custom Comfort and bought a custom for $750. Really a nice mattress.
