Purchasing a 2006 Southwind 32VS and completing inspection on Monday. This will be our first motorhome after 12 years of RVing with truck bed campers. Trading in a 2004 Lance Lite1025 which has propane furnace, propane hot water heater, toilet and shower, 3-way fridge. Just giving you an idea of my experience with equipment.
The Southwind is on the Workhorse W-22 chasis with the 8100 motor and allison 5 speed transmission.
Can you please recommend things to look for before I finalize my purchase? I looked for leaks in the obvious locations; roofing, roof penetrations, doors and windows, and siding. I test drove it and seems to drive and ride well, only 24000 miles on it, transmission shifts smoothly, with and without overdrive on.
No experience with generator (Onan gas 5500 gold) and electrical panel - switchable 20, 30, 50 amp and genpac.
I would like comments from owners of same model and would greatly appreciate any insight from experienced motorhome users.
Thank you and have a great day!

Make sure the brake recall has been performed!

Spend some time if you have it and browse through the Workhorse forum.

Go to Workhorse.com under My Workhorse and input the VIN and it will tell you if the brake recall has been done.

I have different MH, Coachman 2004, But I have the same Onan 5500 Generator. I have had no problems at all. I change the oil every year or 50 hrs which ever comes first & just changed the air filter at 150hrs. If your gen has not been running. You need to prime it. Hold the start/cutoff switch in the off position for aprx 20 seconds after the light comes on then go to start. This is from the Onan Cummins website. It should start right up.
Welcome to the iRV2 forum & congrats on your new MH. When you go shopping on Black Friday YOU GO SHOPPING!!!

Thanks John, turns out the brake recall is still open. Good catch - I'll have it taken care of right a way. Have a good day!

Thanks Dan, I'll change oil and filter, and air filter. Start my own maintenance schedule then I know it starts out fresh for us.

You should make that part of the sale that they perform the recall before you buy it so you will not be saddled with any additional costs not covered by the recall
