Just joined and this appears to be an excellent community!
We have just purchased a 1992 Fleetwood Southwind 33L and this is
our first RV. Getting the RV ready for my retirement and any tips you may have on this model would be highly appreciated
It has 29,000 miles on it so the drivetrain is in good condition. (460 Ford Gas)
All appliances are working at this time
Back up camera system has blue screen (no camera input?)
No visible signs of leaking from the roof.
New tires all around. (replaced last year)
I plan to change all fluids- belts- hoses due to the age of the vehicle.
Any chronic conditions you know of associated with this MH?
Thanks in advance and nice to meet ya'll

Thats a Beautiful looking motorhome !!! Since we are also newbies at this, I'll just comment on what little I know about... (ex-hotrodder/aircraft mech) .
You have the basics down , replace all rubber lines/hoses/belts,, etc... Also, since its been sitting most of it's life, I'd check wheel/axle seals, (again rubber) , brake lines, brake components, for rusting/corrosion, and again another rubber component is the water pump seals on the engine. That's one thing that will leave you stranded in a heart beat... U-joints, have a full service done by someone you trust... Take it on a couple shorter trips before you take off across country. Good luck, have fun, and keep us informed ! I have found there's Bunches of Great people on this forum, that don't mind at all newbie questions like I post !! Merry Christmas !!

All excellent advice. About taking short trips, when I bought my first coach, I spent a week in it in my driveway. I tried not to go into my house for any reason. I was able to find many things that I hadn't thought of, and test all the systems for extended periods. And, because I was in the driveway, problem resolution was never far away.
Welcome to the forum, ask lots of questions, see ya down the road!

Hi Ramblin,
I plan to do just that very thing over Christmas.
Maybe I'll put up a tree in one window!

The number one thing I always cautioned my customers about on a coach that is this old and has set this much is the rubber brake hoses. There is one on each front caliper and one over the rear end. As another poster said, do upper and lower radiator hoses and heater hoses.

The 460 motor is strong and a fuel hog, and it is prone to exhaust manifold leaking. You can repair the manifolds or replace them, but it's rarely a permanent fix. The only permanent fix is exhaust headers at much greater expense, like you can get from Banks Engineering.
