Newbie wants to know about mileage

I recently found a 2008 Bounder 38F, and have been fortunate enough to find 2 within 70 miles of each other. I am going out of town to see them on 12/27. One has 24K miles and the other 53K miles. The NADA ignores mileage on a diesel. I understand that as far as the drive train goes.
Question #1
But what wear and tear is there on the coach bouncing around on the road for an extra 29K miles? Is it something to be concerned about? Should price be discounted because of the extra mileage?
Question #2
The biggest vehicle I have driven is a 20 or 24 foot U-Haul truck. Should I be concerned about driving something 1.5 or more times the size of the U-Haul?
Thank you for any input. It will be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas everyone.

Question 1 is all about maintenance. If both have the same attention to maintaining the rigs then I'd try to get the higher mileage discounted some. Check tire dates also, age out a 7 years so take that into consideration.

Question 2, we went from a 30' Class C to a ~40' Class A DP, both my wife and I think the Class A is easier to drive and definitely more comfortable. Don't worry, take your time and ask lots of questions.

Is there more wear & tear? Of course. Is it significant? Maybe not. Mileage is a general indicator of frequency of use, so even suggests furniture and carpet wear. But as an indicator of engine and mechanical wear, there is little difference between 24k and 53k. Anything under 120k is probably of little significance assuming reasonable care.

One should also be aware that low usage sometimes means neglect. People tend to forget to do routine maintenance when a vehicle just sits around a lot. Tires have low wear, but they still age. Lubrication still needs to be replenished, belts and hoses dry out, etc.

2008 38F Bounder

Oldlefty:
I hope you had good luck with the aquisition of one of those two. I purchased a 38F last Feb with 29K on it and it's been a fun and good experience for the most part. Original tires were replaced last fall with new GoodYears. DOT code showed them 3 weeks old when they arrived; I was happy about that. I've upgraded all interior, cargo and utility light with LED. PO took the stove/oven out and had a dishwasher installed under a range that I want to go back to a stove/oven. TV's all upgraded to LED. My biggest gripe is the love seat. I think that area would be better served with additional storage and counter space. I'm still learning the driver information system. Might have a new queen mattress made to replace the sleepnumber. Poor planning for quick stops to sleep on the road. If the sleep number is soft the inverter doesn't power the outlets by the bed so if I need inflate it I have to fire up the 9K genset. Overkill Planning on doing a floor upgrade this spring. Carpet looks dated and I'm thinking of a nice laminate throughout. So far happy with my economy. Drive 1800 rpm which shows 60-62 on the GPS and have averaged 9.999999mpg, ok; I'll call it 10mpg 11.1 on a trip last Aug from NE Wisconsin to NE IL but then when I looked at the map it's all downhill to there, LOL.

Good Luck
Steve
