Not getting fuel to engine in my 1988 Fleetwood Bounder

I been having troubles where the engine runs fine up to 45+, then loses power and struggles.. I have replaced fuel filter ( badly clogged), in-line pump and still not getting fuel. My RV has a Chevy 454 with carburetor. Is there more than 1 fuel pump in system? What else could it be? Stalled on side of road and after replacing fuel filter, still no gas flow to inline pump. Is there an in-tank pump?

Welcome to the forum. Not fun being stuck on the side of the road. Sounds like you've done a good job isolating lack of fuel problem. I don't know anything about your model MH, but I'm sure one of the forum experts will jump in with useful info. Good luck!

Is there a fuel filter at the carb as well as the inline one? Seems to me I remember there being one that actually looks more like a compression fitting where the fuel line enters the carb.

If its a Rochester carb, there will be a filter in the fitting that the line connects to.

Be sure to hold the big fitting nut, and use a line wrench on the fuel line.
Without, you could twist the line or round off the not.

If like I think it is, this inline pump you speak of, is on the passenger side and near the tank. You say you replaced it, but has it been checked out for being maybe faulty? This is the lift pump for getting it to the mech. pump on the engine, if it still has one.
Is there not a split in the line, going to the genset and is it getting fuel.
This will tell you something about the lines.
Also, can you blow air back into the tank and for hearing it bubbling the fuel inside?
You may have to drop the rear of the tank for access to the lines and hoses that could be squeezed shut or clogged and in need of replacement.
Try looking at the floor above for cutting hole through and then using a marine access plate for any future issues.

On the left (drivers side) of the engine is a oil pressure switch. In the case of a wreck, the engine dies and the oil pressure switch picks up no pressure, the switch cuts off current to the fuel pump. This is to prevent gas pumping into the engine area after a wreck. These switchs can develop high resistance and cause the fuel pump the run erracticlly. This sounds like your problem. I had a chevy powered 1985 Airstream motorhome. The switch went out in the middle of nowhere. Ran a wire from the fuse block to the output side of the switch. worked great untill I got to a parts house in Fla. and replaced the switch.

Had an ‘88 pace arrow that ran great with 454 until highway speeds or hills. Found out a rat had chewed on fuel lines above tank. Low speeds below 45 did not know I had a problem. Had to drop the tank to repair. Good luck, hope you find the issue.
