Off Center Steering Wheel

I did the procedure yesterday with removing the yoke on the steering pump to re-center my steering wheel. I wedged a screwdriver in the slot on the clamp but wedged it near the top of the slot afraid of damaging the splines if I wedged it near the bottom. I had one hell of a time getting it off and back on to the tune of a couple hours. Question is do you wedge the screwdriver near the bottom of the slot where the splines are. The top just doesn't work. Anyway, steering wheel is almost centered and I might have to redo to move over a spline or two.

What chassis??

You may want to add this info to your signature (use the "User CP" tab to get there)

I would gently tap a chisel into the bottom of the slot, just enough to get it moving. Then pry from both sides to move it up on the splines.

Ford sends them out straight on a unloaded chassis.

As weight is added the steering geometry changes, offsetting the steeting wheel.

Ford has TSBs for fixing it. Its called Clear Vision correction.

When I had one, mine came off the splined shaft fairly easy. Just remove the bolt and put a screw driver on the top of the steering box and pry up. You did completely remove the bolt?
