Just bought a 2014 Southwind 36D with a Ford chassis a few months ago and figured it was time for an oil change. The oil filler tube is tucked up high so getting a funnel in there is near impossible. Does anyone have any suggestions. I was thinking maybe a length of plastic hose to run up around motor cover.

This has been discussed many times on the forums.

I pour from quarts using the nozzle pictured below screwed to the top of the bottle. It works quite well.

I've also bought nozzles at Tractor Supply or Walmart that are similar and fit oil bottles with the smaller or larger tops. If I buy oil by the gallon I just transfer it to a clean, empty oil bottle. I've got six vehicles and countless small engines to maintain, so clean, empty oil bottles are not hard to acquire.

Now, how do you the oil out without draining it onto the top of the front axle. Search "Fumoto valve" for that.

I use a 5/8" hose about 2' long attach a funnel tie up to hood and start pouring in oil...

Check out the multitude of oil fill funnels at an auto parts store. The flexible ones commonly used for filling automatic transmissions will work fine for you.

Mine is older but I lift the engine cover inside, remove the filler pipe from the right valve cover and use a long transmission funnel.

That sounds like it'd work for all sorts of stuff -- gear lube, for instance. Does it fit the small or large top oil bottles? Or both maybe? You gotta link?

Ah, yes. I've seen those. It looks like it'd fit both size tops commonly use on oil bottles.

I've got a couple of these I use on hard-to-get-to motorcycle transmissions, final drives, etc. I've used it on the RV, and it worked without a mess, but it poured so slow I switched to the one I posted above.

I was thinking of installing a "T" in the oil fill tube. i.e. i.e. if I want to add oil, I open the doghouse and easily add the oil right on top of the engine.

My oil fill isn't to bad. The older style quart oil containers that have the narrow spout fit into the oil fill and can snug up against the underside of the dash.

The old style bottle with the offset spout work just fine. I transferred my oil to one and poured it in the first couple of changes. I didn't spill any at all.

I buy the 5 quart size and just refill the empty one quart'er easy peazy. Does take a few more minutes, but what the heck, any reason to be outside is a good reason! Besides, a couple of beers are worth the wait.....

I presently use a plastic clear piece of tubing and a funnel and usually have to wire it to a ladder to keep it in one place as I'm usually doing it myself. Remember, even though it is a 1 inch PVC conduit, pour slowly until you get the hang of how much you can pour without it vomiting all over. Also use warm oil. Just a few days ago, I tried to pour 20 degree 15W40 oil and it came out like molasses!
