If you look I think you will find properly cared for lead acid wet cells or AGM's last about equally as long. It's really not a big deal to check the water every month or two. If that bothers you mineral oil may be as good an answer and a lot cheaper.

A lot of what to choose depends on how frugal you are. There are definite cost savings depending on how one uses the systems in a completely set up RV. I get by fine with my yearly week of dry camping by using enough generator time. Other folk put in big solar because they don't want to hear a generator. Then you can go to several days of battery capacity or be able to run electric coffee pots, microwaves, and similar high draw items instead of using the propane stove to get the same end result. That moves it down to the individual to decide what really suites them and their style of RV usage.
