Our first long trip in our coach !!

We are heading out this morning heading to Panama City beach for a long weekend!!! We have taken the coach out for a weekend before but this will be the first long trip and the first time pulling our toad. Fingers crossed we have no issues.

My fridge acted up it first and then went back to working normally again.

Wednesday night my mother in-law who lived 20 miles from us and stays at our house says she can't come to watch our house. Her other daughter in south Georgia had her freaked that we were going to be hit by the hurricane. We live in Northwest Georgia and spent hours trying to convince her that everything was going to be fine but it put us behind on loading our stuff in the coach.

The trip down was uneventful thank goodness. The coach road great, the roof air kept the inside cool. The remote battery charger for the toad quit working so the battery was dead on the Hummer when we got to the campground. Red tide was happening so there were dead fish everywhere. We let my son play in the sand for a few hours and went to the pool to do any swimming. The washer/ dryer made a funny noise and quit working. The potty has a leak somewhere so I will need to reseal the whole thing.

I bought a 49cc scooter to take with us. In Georgia you need a helmet and no tag, in Florida you need a tag and no helmet, so me and little man ended up just cruising around the campground on it. My son loves to ride on that scooter.

The ride home was also uneventful. So there are a few repair issues I need to work on over the winter but everyone had a great time. The wife liked it so much she wished we would have made it a longer trip and also wants us to go back down in April.

Sometimes it's a good year before getting everything fixed and with the way you want them. After that, it's keeping up and it sounds like you'll be staying on top of it.
As for the Hummer, have you run a charge wire through your umbilical cord from the coach? Not necessary with our Jeep, as it has no steering lock that requires the ignition being on, or with the pulling of any fuses....etc...etc....

Yes I tapped into the 12 volt feed off the umbilical cord. I checked to make sure it was charging when we left the house but it was not working when we got to campground. I will check the fuses this weekend.

A fuse is most likely the problem.
If I should install one of these from scratch, I make a run directly from the Coach Chassis battery to the toad's battery via the umbilical cord and use an inline fuse at each end.

With ours, the math lines up with pulling 15K lbs and just as long as there's not any hitch weight to speak of. I would imagine his specs. are similar to ours, but can't say about his rear axle weight and with ours being at max already.

You could feel it but it wasn't really all that bad I suppose. I have nothing to compare it too because this was our first real trip and I never pulled a toad before. We rented a golf cart when we got to the campground because our 18 year old daughter thought she was going to drive mamas Hummer around and be cool. The wife liked the open air and cruising around on the cart so we are looking to buy Jeep Wrangler next year. It's a ton lighter and the wife likes the idea of a bikini top and no doors. Just hop in and go.
