We like what we see and are wondering if there are any owners here that can share their experiences with this floorplan. Thanks, ED

Ed, some friends of ours just purchased a 36D and love it. Although they haven't had it too long yet, so far they have had good luck and absolutely cherish the room and the layout. When my wife and I looked at it we wished we'd held out longer and got one.
Somewhere else, either here or on RV.NET there has been discussions about the 36D. You might do a search.

Ed, I think we discussed this model before the coach is nice and roomey but was built on a W-22 chassis and we all thought it should be on at least a 24.

We are also looking at the 36D. We saw one on a lot and it only had a CCC of 950 lbs or so. This has scared us a bit. We are hoping to find someone who has it on a W24 chassis and can tell us what the CCC is on that.
My wife loves the layout, the bath and a half, and the placement of the toilets. With 4 girls in our family toilets and sinks are important.

dsrains, welcome to irv2 and the Fleetwood forum.
As you say CCC 950 doesn't leave you much room.
There may not be a choice as to what chassis you can get the 36D on a dealers lot they seem to order the lower chassis. As time moves on the chassis may run into differcullty supporting coach.
Checked web site they do have it on a W-24 so I guess you could call a dealer and see the difference in price and CCC.
Enjoy the forums and post often.

Dsrains,
The W24 is rated to add 2000 lbs. to your CCC & 1000 lbs towing over the W22. The W24 chassis as I was told weighs apx. 175 lbs more than a W22 chassis.
I would expect you to be at apx. 2950 lbs CCC with the W24. This should help until you get an exact quote.
Pat

DSRAINS: Let me also welcome you to iRV2.com. You will find lots of friendly, knowledgable folks here and we all love to help.
I'm glad to read the 36D can be gotten on the W-24 and would strongly advise you to find one on that chassis, because <1,000 ccc is simply not enough (the weight of your family and their stuff, including groceries and clothes, has to be subtracted from that number).
Just to clarify what Pat said, the GCVWR of the W-22 is 26,000 and the W-24 is 30,000. And, as 007 posted above, most of us agreed the 36D NEEDS to be on the W-24. I'm hoping Fleetwood will offer a similar floor plan on the UFO! Now that, friends, would be sweeeeet!! ED

Hi all! Thanks for the kind welcome. I have been reading these forums on a daily basis for a few months and have really enjoyed. There is a ton of useful information to be found on here.
Thanks for the information Pat. This is what I am looking for. I have contacted the dealer to get exact information, and the cost difference between the W22 and W24 chassis.
We will just be weekend campers and a couple of week long trips per year. Will a CCC of 950 work for that kinda use?

Our's is on the W-22, we have 1000 lb front and 500 lb back with full water and gas with cloths and our other supplies we carry. Had it weighed on all four corners by DOT, unless their scales are off we have enough CCC. We love the floor plan, it is ok when on road, you have to crawl over bed to get to shower and back vanity. You loose about 12 inches of bed with slides in. but you can get to tolit and other vanity easy. If I was buying again would go for W-24 or W-25.5 H.B.

Thanks for your information Blaster. Dealer has one on the lot he is willing to do some serious dealing on, but it is on the w22 chassis.
If we decide to order one we will get it on the w24 chassis.
Here are the costs for a Pace Arrow 36D stock. Or atleast this is what I am being told the prices are. Its difficult to get MSRP and add on pricing from Fleetwood.
Ford chassis $147,000
W22 chassis $150,080
W24 chassis $155,100
Which sofa do you have?
Thanks.

dsrains: There certainly is nothing wrong with the W-22 chassis (I have one) HOWEVER the W-24 would be a better choice if you can handle the extra cost. I went to the Fleetwood website and copied the following pasted below:
Pace Arrow 36D Specifications CHASSIS Specifications Workhorse™
W22 W24 Ford®
Wheelbase (inches) 228" 228" 228"
GVWR (lbs)1 22,000 24,000 22,000
Front GAWR (lbs)2 8,000 9,000 7,500
Rear GAWR (lbs)2 14,500 15,500 14,500
Base Weight (lbs)3 19,100 19,200 19,150
GCWR (lbs)4 26,000 30,000 26,000
Tongue Weight (lbs)5 500 600 500
Engine Displacement (Liters) 8.1 8.1 6.8
Hitch Rating Weight (lbs)5 5,000 6,000 5,000
Engine 8.1L Vortec™ V8 8.1L Vortec™ V8 6.8L Triton® V10
Torque 455 lb-ft @ 3200 RPM 455 lb-ft @ 3200 RPM 457 lb-ft @ 3250 RPM
Transmission 6-Speed Automatic with Overdrive - Allison® 1000 Series 6-Speed Automatic with Overdrive - Allison® 2100 Series TorqShift® 5-Speed Automatic Overdrive w/Tow/Haul Mode
Alternator Amps 145 Amp 145 Amp 130 Amp
I think the MOST important difference is the "base weight" where you will see the W-24 only weighs about 100 pounds more than the W-22. That little three (3) refers to a footnote down in the fine print which explains that the base weight is : " 3. Base Weight is the estimated weight of the motor home without fuel, options, water, cargo or passengers. "
Therefore, it seems you will have a total of 2,800 pounds of GVWR available to carry ALL of the above quoted things. It is fairly simple to calculate the weight of these things to arrive at a "CCC". Only you can know the weight of the family, food, clothes, etc. but just know that these things add up fast. That is why most of us think you will be better served by getting the 36D on a W-24. There are also several features on the W-24 which are not included on the W-22, which help justify the additional cost of the W-24. Good luck with your decisions. ED

Darryl: Just keep in mind those are probably "MSRP" and you should expect to get a MINIMUM of 20% OFF of those numbers, without trade. ED
