Purchased a 2000 Pace Arrow Vision

The bedroom slideout makes a few noises when sliding, so I decided to investigate today.
When it slides out it appears that the top leaves the side of the RV after the bottom, i.e. the outside wall slopes in towards the top. This I believe is normal to get a good seal. But since the bed seems to be screwed to the moving wall it means that the bed tries to rip away from the wall as the slide closes, and the angle between the bed & the wall increases.

Is this normal? Should the bed frame be screwed to the wall, or just the floor?

Thanks

David

My bed is attached to the floor of slide. So all move together.
You should check the seal at top sounds like the top of slide against top seal is sticking holding it from all moving out together.
Could have glue that needs to be cleaned up or a screw catching top of slide as it moves out.
Your night stands on side of slide fascia may pull off bed base if it keeps up.

So the bed should not be screwed to the outside (slideout) wall. That's what I figure.
Took the bed apart today. The screws that attach it to the floor have pulled out (or have been removed) The plywood that covers the mechanism was held on with 4 screws - must be 15-20 screw holes though. Need to get the screw driver busy.

Let me re-phrase my question a bit

When sliding in, is it normal for the top to touch the side of the RV before the bottom? This means that the slide wall is actually leaning in a bit when extended.
Also the top seal is not really compressed along the top when the slide is out.
I can see the slide tip as it slides out to its limit.
This is a PowerGear system. Is there adjustment I need to look at? Have a feeling I need to lift the inside end of the slide rail.

Hey David,

Did you ever get a resolution to this problem? I got the same thing going on PLUS, the slide is 3/4" too far back in its opening.

The angle between the bottom and the outside wall is less than 90 degrees, so the top is 'home' before the bottom when it slides in. This makes sued that the top is sealed whin slid in.
I put angle brackets on every corner joint inside the bed frame.
I lubricated the slideout mechanisms.
There are nylon blocks at each side of the slide to act as guides top and bottom. You can see these when the slide is out. They are just inside the opening and rub on the bottom 'rail' on the side of the slide. If they are missing the slide could move backwards

Mine slides very well now with very little creaking and scraping

Thanks. I saw those nylon blocks on the living room slide, and wondered why I don't have any on the bedroom slide. I'm gonna have to source some up.

my 2003 storm makes a knuckle sounding "pop" when i slide the kitchen/dinette slide out on the driver's side. It makes that sound about 6" out, but no other issues. both slides do seem to stop at the top/bottom in/out first though....
