What brand mirror is it?
Ours gets tightened with an SAE allen wrench.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

On my 2010 Expedition there is a round plug on the bottom of the arm at the end the mirror is mounted to. A small screw driver will pop that out and then an allen screw will be right behind it.

Once we got ours to where we needed it, we used Loc-tite to keep it there. It helps that both drivers use the same mirror adjustment. Haven't tried it, but I figure Loc-ease will allow us to move it in the future if needed. We used Loc-tite in the Fall of 2010 after 3 tightening routines. Have not had to do any adjustments since then.
