Potential 1988 Fleetwood Limited Owners
Hi everyone,
My husband and I were thrilled to find this site as we are thinking of buying a 1988 Fleetwood Limited RV. It has some minor condition problems and we were wondering how hard it is to find parts for these vehicles. In particular it is missing the wiper blades and the motors to run the as well as the lower front clip (under the headlights). The inside is in good shape except where it leaked in the bathroom so will have to fix that however everything else looks great as far as we can tell. Any input would be greatly appreciated before we take this big step.
Thanks for any advice!

This is a kinda personal question, but, is money a big issue? If so, I would buy something a little newer, there are plenty out there. You will spend more on repairs on an older rig, over the long run, than if you buy something more up to date now. 5 1/2 years ago we bot a '93 Southwind, our 1st rig. I do all of my own work, so it wasn't to bad, but it was really well taken care of, and we did 2 round trip country excursions. LEAKS ARE BAD !! Always remember that statement. If nothing else make sure there are no leaks !!! There are independent outfits out there that, for a nominal fee, will do a MH check for you. Go to www.rv.net/forums and then click on Class A MHs, and put your questions in the search box. You will be overwhelmed ! Robbie Oh, GOOD LUCK !!!

Thanks Robbie
Hi Robbie,
The rig is in really good shape and yes money is an issue. The place it is leaking is around crank open roof vents. My husband thinks it just needs some seal coat around it to stop the leak. Otherwise that is the only place where we found any major problem. The MH started up and ran beautifully, generator works, no other leaks that we could see on the sides or anywhere else on the roof. Thanks for all of the info though we will check it out.

Just remember, leaks are your enemy. They can start in one place, and come out in a completly different spot. If you believe it's around the handle, make sure you go up on the roof, and remove ALL of the old chaulking, clean everything, and reseal w/ eternabond. Well good luck w/ everything, and happy motoring, Robbie

Thanks for the info Robbie. We did purchase the MH today so now have joined the ranks of RVers. We look forward to getting it out next year.

Congratulations, I had a 1991 Fleetwood, which was called the Cambria. It was a short evolution from your rig. Part of this evolution included the Elaganzas, which were variations of Southwinds and Pace Arrows. These were made on same chassis as the Pace Arrows.
I had the Chevy 454 Fuel Injection. Don't know what engine you have and if it is fuel injected.
Need to look at resealing the running lights that are on upper part of front cap. These were the culprit for leaks although the leaks appeared elsewhere in that whole front area. My wife cut new gaskets and never had another problem.
We did 65000 miles wonderful miles over 9 years.

I've heard water leaks are the #1 enemy and destroyer of RV's
