If you have the CAT C-9 you should develop max torque between 1350 and 1425 RPMs. I hope this is what you are looking for.

On long up grades, the generally accepted climbing strategy calls for keeping your RPMs up close to the rated horsepower rpm. The C9 makes max hp at 2200-2300 rpm.

Cummins has brochures with the HP and torque curves on their website. Doesn't CAT do the same?

When going up hill I just let the engine/transmission computer worry about it. It will down shift and upshift when needed.

That strategy was not the approach for me when I had a Monaco with a Cummins ISC. If you let the computer control it you would overheat. I always had to downshift it to keep the rpms up as it ran cooler there.

The transmission, in conjunction with the engine ECM, will indeed find the most effective RPM range if you just push the peddle down.
Whether that results in overheating is a different matter. Your engine cooling system should provide adequate cooling at that RPM range, but some older coaches have had problems with that and have been forced to use a higher rpm to get more cooling. Should not have to do that, but it is what it is. I would be rather surprised if an '06 Rev need high rpms, though.
